THE CBR COMMUNITY STANDARDS & RULES ~ So... what's your excuse now?
I am not the best at keeping all this straight, but does this mean the Jay and Joan we just saw in "The Flash" are gone?
Yeah, me too unfortunately. This new Team Arrow doesn't interest me so much. I like Katherine McNamara, but if they're thinking of a spinoff, they're going to need more of a focus/motivation as heroes other than being legacies.

The 2040 stuff tends to kill the momentum for me, same as the post-Season 2 flashbacks. It just doesn't benefit the present day storyline or the future one (especially since they aren't even connected in the same way the S1 and S2 flashbacks had direct bearing on current events).
I think the 2040 stuff would maybe work a bit better if the cuts lasted longer than, I don't know, a minute and a half? Because that's just a crazy way to try and keep someone's attention in the age of "I'm bored, looking at my phone until something interesting happens."
I joked with my son after Ollie talked Tommy down that every ep of ARROW this season would involve Oliver saving hundreds of lives on a parallel earth only to have Anti-Monitor show up and wipe out the entire planet.
The Future flash forwards, can't say I really care for them, other than evil John Jr (JJ) as NuDeathstroke was an interesting surprise. But now I'm thinking the point of them is that it will be revealed they've been on the merged earth (the outcome of Crisis) this whole time.
It didn't even dawn on me this was an Earth we had seen before, I thought this was rando Earth where Ollie died on the island and "our" Ollie was simply using that to his advantage. Seeing this Laurel and Black Siren interact should be interesting since apparently now she's the lone survivor of the not-snap of that world.
Tommy as the Black Archer was good. Adrian Chase as Arrow was interesting. Suddenly I had vibes of Christian Bale's Batman with him.
Sad thing that they apparently retconned Robert Queen as the Green Arrow!
But still, great episode, so many callbacks, so many new things too
Good first episode.Except the oh so boring 2040 stuff. What is the point? A spinoff nobody will watch?
So Bruce Wayne's name is mentioned. Chase sounded like he knew he was Batman. Did he die on the Island? We saw the cowl. Did Earth 2's Oliver also die on the Island? Questions, questions, never to be answered, as Earth 2 is gone.
There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!
Maybe Harry is the Wells who becomes Pariah? If I remember Pariah’s origin from the comic, he was a scientist who screwed up. Looked at the origin of the universe or whatever. I can see Harry, even in his dumbed down state, making a mad scientist mistake and getting burned.
If not RIP Harry along with Jesse, Barry, Iris, Solivar and badshot Lawton.
I’m guessing Earth 19 (home of Breacher, Gypsy, Accerated Man and the late HR) is next on the chopping block.
Anyway great episode. Hell of a way to kick off the final season.
Enjoyed the episode. It was fun to relive the pilot but with the tweaks that Earth 2 brings us...Malcolm and Merlyn being married, Tommy being the Dark Archer, Dinah and Rene being evil, Adrian being the Hood. Some of the dialogue lifted from the pilot and other episodes. I dunno about anyone else, but I could actually go for more Adrian Chase Arrow. Bruce Wayne is apparently his mentor or was at some point, the Bat cowl being on the island with the arrow through it rather than Slade's balaclava.
Thea dying of a Vertigo overdose was sad at it happening and having that be the thing that drove Tommy to attempt his own undertaking.
Seeing the world wiped out by the anti-matter wave was both tragic and corny at the same time. Tragic for it happening and Oliver having to watch his mother and Tommy get snuffed out, but kinda corny in how it went down with Moira throwing out the dramatic hand to Oliver and Tommy (who i guess ditched his cuffs) running in just to get dusted.
The future stuff, I don't really care for now more than ever. We have 10 episodes of the show left, every minute they spend in the future is time not spent on the present with the characters we have grown to love over the past several years. That sucks. Just for my own curiosity I am going to add up the minutes spent on the future stuff. Odds are over the course of 10 episodes we are losing at least one full episode for the present day story. That's annoying to me.
All in all, a good start. Will be sad to see it go on some levels, but on other levels, it's just time.

Like most people here not a fan of the 2040 stuff, not sure why it was even introduced in the first place last season. The only reason I can seem to think they keep showing it is somehow down the line this season or in crisis Oliver sees his 2 adult kids and gets to interact with them and say he’s proud of them. Past and present interacting somehow or else why bother. If this is all a set up for the new show then not a fan of wasted time.
