The saddest thing about adapting Roy Harper for anything is that you know that no matter how he's written he's always got to have something tragic happen to him, whether it be becoming a drug addict, going insane, etc. He always turns bad or at least crazy in any incarnation. I think we're starting to see his downfall in this episode. Maybe a "Rise of Arsenal" story is coming later on in the season.

I enjoyed this episode. Getting to know Felicity back story and her mom was fun. It was even quite touching when felicity finally realized how much her mom meant to her and reconnect with her.

I figure the worst it can be he was controlled by someone else to do it, but he didn't do it by his own volition.

Wow, that's a little unnecessarily vehement. And press releases don't mean all that much when they've been fairly deliberate in not giving Roy a name yet in the show itself, so until they do that name is no more canon than Speedy or Red Arrow is.
