Default Who for a zombie infested stroll? Bring a blade or gun to a zombie fight.

You have to go 20 miles on foot to get to point B from point A, through a typical suburban landscape of single family homes, malls, etc.

You have the choice of two escort forces.

    1. I've been watching the Kenshin movies on Netflix and have watched the anime. You can have 100 Kenshin level swordsmen with katanas (not his reversed one but normal) and short sword.

    2. You can have 100 John Wick level gun folk with the compliment of handguns and ammo that Wick carries when he goes into a bad guy's den (which he did several times). Just the ammo, a person carries as in the movies. If you want to add a few more extra mags, I'll give you 4 more higher capacity handgum mags.

Which is the best escort as you run across the usual mobs of zombies (not a horde of thousands).

I'll go for the speed level of the walking dead as compared to fast zombies of other films.

    I don’t require either.

The usual mobs of zombies I find in a typical suburban landscape are purely imaginary ones.

    ….

    What?

Oh, you want me to assume they exist? Ah. That wasn’t clear.

Well, in that case, despite knowing nothing about Kenshin, I’ll go for the swordsmen. Guns are good for rapidly taking out the mobs of zombies but they also make a lot of noise and attract bigger mobs, which could eventually get problematic.

The number of zombies I’m likely to encounter in a typical suburban landscape (even one where zombies are a thing) is low. Probably 7 or 8 in a group, max, as long as I avoid shopping areas, superstores, industrial areas etc. 100 skilled swordsmen should be able to handle a lot of Walking Dead speed zombies. I think I’ll be fine.

Oh I was going with "massive amounts of Holy Magic", but that works too I guess.

So are we going full "Left for Dead Zombies" or is it some other kind of zombie with their walking speed?

Ok, this is a hypothetical zombie universe set. It could be a fast or slow zombie set. For either, choose your escorts. There are more than scattered ones or twos zombies but not a thousand member horde.

    Give me the Wick Gunners.

They are all precise with their shots (unless you have plot armor) so ammo wouldn't be a problem, and they are all skilled in close range combat so if anything does get close they can easily dispatch the slow zombies here.

Basically the Zs never get close and you can clear out sections at range to make escape routes if cornered or prevent that situation from even happening as a great range game gives you alot more options then swords and close range only.
And with that the rest of the Domino's will fall like a house of cards. Checkmate.

I don't see this being noted as specifically 'movie' Kenshin or Anime Kenshin. In fact, it doesn't mention any single version of him, thus I'm assuming primary canon - the manga (it...really doesn't make a whole lot of difference if it's manga or anime Kenshin in this situation, anyway, and 'anime' is mentioned in the OP).

So that means Kenshin is a superhuman, bullet-timing swordsman with ridiculous mobility, along with knowing some crazy special techniques that he totally doesn't need to murderstomp large groups of zombies that are essentially statues to him.

You've given me a hundred of this guy.

It's simplicity in itself to have about twenty Kenshins running around annihilating every zombie within a couple hundred feet of me, with the other Kenshins following along, resting when needed, absently sharpening their swords, occasionally whacking a zombie that manages to (somehow) get past the scouting Kenshins. They're not going to run out of ammo. They're not going to get weary when facing these things - fast zombies, slow zombies, they're all moving in...slooooow...motiooooon...compared to the Kenshins. And getting oneshot. Sometimes two or three at a time, no doubt.

One hundred Kenshins to get me twenty miles is complete and total overkill.

Yeah, maybe it was too many Kenshins. Even fast zombies would be slow to manga and anime versions.

This is not a phrase I hear everyday, so I thank this thread for putting a smile on my face.

I really think that ten Kenshins (manga/anime) would still be more than enough. Would be a lot more stressful, but still.

I'm just over here cringing at the notion that Katanas are somehow magical zombie killing weapons.

Katana are fair to middling, I'm tired of the trope GAHHH.

... anyway, fictional character with fictional katana and bullet-timing >>> wick with a gun.
Yeah, but if you... man, we're getting into weird analogy territory, like if you disintegrated Superman's arms he wouldn't be able to go "fool! Little did you know that my arms and I are one and can be remade from me!" and will his arms back into being from pure nothingness. - Pendaran

You and me both, man. As Ghost used to point out, a katana is a functional sword for what it was made to do, with the materials on-hand, the armor of the time, etc.

But it's not some super-decapitation-tool or whatever.

Fortunately, nobody in this thread is putting that notion forward. ^_^ I think Rumbles, at least, has managed a healthy skepticism toward the idea.

The katana isn't really the issue. Kenshin with whatever blade you preferred would be a nasty edged weapon opponent. I'm sure he could learn its foibles fairly quickly. Now, I've always pondered Kenshin with Elric's Stormbringer (given the blade behaved itself). Could he beat Batman (LOL)?

Oh, we're just griping about the katana; as noted, kenshin with whatever is going to murder these things. We could give him a shovel, for crying out loud (callback to 'Katana versus Shovel' from before the board reboot).

Kenshin with a katana (even his reversed one) is enough to easily take Batman apart; he really doesn't need Stormbringer. ^_^

Fortunately MAGICAL Katanas ARE Magic Zombie Killing Weapons.

SO when The MunchKING shows up with a Masamune, you can know; your Zombies are being rekilled with a verifiable Holy-Elemental magical superweapon.

Well, Kenshin needs a Glock Shovel or that Spetsnaz shovel. I seem to recall a thread where it was claimed that Bats could take Kenshin or was it that Bats could duplicate Kenshin's feats of mowing down a zillion average samurai in some inn?

I read a thread about the best shovel for the car (living in snow country) that could serve also as 'tactical' instrument. Never bought one though, I should.
