    Interestingly, a truly great crossover.

I think restorative nostalgia is the number one issue with comic book fans.
A fine distinction between two types of Nostalgia:

Reflective Nostalgia allows us to savor our memories but accepts that they are in the past
Restorative Nostalgia pushes back against the here and now, keeping us stuck trying to relive our glory days.

There just hasn't been enough Hal Foster tributes these days so I'll drop this one here.

This cover is a truncated version of the original work

The Prince Valiant strip began in February of 1937 for King Features, which was owned by William Randolph Hearst. In a rare move at that time, Hearst gave Foster full ownership of the Prince Valiant strip
Hal Foster (1892-1982) was still working on his Prince Valiant newspaper strip when I was a kid and the Chicago Sun-Times carried in the Sunday comics section. But in the early 70s, Foster had to quit doing the strip due to his arthritis. The last page drawn by Hal Foster appeared on 16 May 1971, after which John Cullen Murphy was chosen to become the feature's new artist. Foster continued to write and layout the comic until February 1980.

I really hope the infrastructure bill won't necessitate bridges like this in the future… but at least it fits last week's theme as well!

I've seen the bridge, and the bridge is long
And they built it high, and they built it strong
Strong enough to hold the weight of time
Long enough to leave some of us behind

And every one of us has to face that day
Do you cross the bridge or do you fade away?
And every one of us that ever came to play
Has to cross the bridge or fade away

    Bridges and super-heroes…

“Strength is the lot of but a few privileged men; but austere perseverance, harsh and continuous, may be employed by the smallest of us and rarely fails of its purpose, for its silent power grows irresistibly greater with time.” Goethe
