Default Transportation issues; advice please with dealing with car insurance companies

Last month, my beloved Camry died on a 35.8 mile rte to work. So,for a couple of weeks Family members were kind enough to drive me and a friend had a car I could borrow. I found a miraculous deal on a 2009 Suburu Legacy, I drove it for almost. A week before a kid rear ended me at a traffic light I then had to wait 5 days before the accident report was released and I can file a claim. I need a rental or loaner car ASAP. How do O motivate them to do the right thing?

Where do you live that it takes so long to get the accident report, and what insurance company do you have?
Was the kid who hit you insured? What company does he use for insurance?

Not familiar with Direct Insurance, but have you considered contacting Allstate if your insurance company isn't being very helpful?

Maybe UK insurance practice is different to US….but standard UK practice on every company I’ve come across (used to work in Insurance years ago) would be to contact company immediately and file claim….then send through extra details such as accident report release later.

Certainly if you haven’t done already, would phone Direct Insurance double pronto, and ask them what their accident report procedures are.
