DC kills their elderly pretty easily but Marvel still keeps Aunt May going.

DC has a weird thing for killing parents/parental figures.

Marvel likes them to be gone but later revealed as super spies or aliens or demons.
"Has Sariel summoned you here, Azrael? Have you come to witness the miracle of your brethren arriving on Earth?"

"I WILL MIX THE ASHES OF YOUR BONES WITH SALT AND USE THEM TO ENSURE THE EARTH THE TEMPLARS TILLED NEVER BEARS FRUIT AGAIN!"

"*sigh* I hoped it was for the miracle."

Dan Watters' Azrael was incredible, a constant delight and perhaps too good for this world (but not the Forth). For the love of St. Dumas, DC, give us more!!!

Or in Tony Stark's case, weren't they later revealed not to be his birth-parents?

I'm shocked that hasn't been retconned yet. Or that it was ever okayed.

Major Hoy , wow you're not just publishing the numbers anymore .
I think most of us miss Alfred and living in the Manor too .
Bruce's adventures are harder in Tec & Batman being on his own .
The Billions can't hurt either :-)

I’m disappointed that he’s gone a for a long time, but I’m also willing to wait for his return to knock some sense into the entire Batfamily, ultimately Bruce.

If Alfred was here he'ld not be lifting a finger to knock sense into Bruce. Alfred always enables Bruce
This is the bloke who sent the entire batfam away because Bruce was happier not remembering them. The man who deliberately decided to end himself because he was being used as a pawn against batman (something that's not new and they've overcome hundreds of times)

Alfred can stay dead or come back. I don't care either way. He isn't a positive influence on Bruce or the family.

I don't know about always, because I really haven't read all that much of Alfred (or Bruce) in recentish times, but it's certainly happened often enough since COIE (and especially since the 21st century) for me to have issue with it.

But Batman is what Batman is to DC, and I really don't think Alfred's presence or lack thereof would make a lasting change on Bruce's behavior or the family dynamics.

The current Bat Family books are telling really good stories without him physically there. I like how the writers keep him present in the story by using their characters in a realistic way, whether it's a memory or thought, they mention something he'd say or do, or how they feel he'd react to this or that, how they feel about him being gone from their lives, etc. Just recently, in Batman and Robin #1, Josh Williamson has already touched on how much of a mark Alfred has left on Damian and Bruce, and the way they interact with each other. It's how my family and I deal with the people we've lost. We keep them present all the time by speaking about them. Doing some of the things they liked or loved. It's how we accept the grief and rise above the pain. It's how we maintain the love of that person in our family.

So, yes, missing Alfred may be better than bringing him back from the dead. DC can always write stories of the past.

Well, I'm sure DC appreciates that somebody likes the Bat-stuff they're publishing.

As for the "quality" of the current Bat-books, YMMV.

Alfred features heavily in the Black Label book "Gargoyle of Gotham" by Rafael Grampa...

I'm surprised no one has posted a discussion thread on here about it..

Re-reading Maximum Carnage, and it's crazy to think that Peter's "parents" are accepted as part of the current cast and running around, later revealed to be robots.
