    Default Grey Lensman in LOTR

From the thread on the Mule and Sauron.

Through whatever mechanism you want, Kimbal Kinnison, the Grey Lensman, gets ported into the council as they decide how to fight Sauron. Kimbal is an awesome telepath and it was claimed a Grey Lensman could knock out the North American continent with his mind.

How does this proceed? One might argue that on the trek, he could perceive and stop most threats on the way to the volcano. He could resist the call of the Ring as he has one of the strong minds in his universe.

I'd expect this proceeds however he wants it too. He breaks the power scale over his knee.

Now, that being said, he may still fall to the temptations of the ring. Kimball is an incredible telepath. And IIRC he got habitually did the most addictive drug in his universe as part of an undercover operation and then kicked the habit to the curb with ease, which speaks to his will power and ability to resist temptation. But as I understand it neither of those things necessarily protect you from the ring, which works more by subverting your desires, even good ones. And Kimball had some pretty intense ambitions for protecting the universe.

He can deal with the whole thing by psychically smearing Sauron into goo (if he's KOing an entire continent's worth of people with his mind, he's considerably above Sauron's paygrade), then immediately haring off to Mt. Doom and tossing the Ring in.

Sure, if he sits on the Ring for a while maybe it'll corrupt him, but (especially with Sauron being out of the picture for the moment) just zipping off to Mt. Doom shouldn't give it enough time to work on him, eliminating the debate about whether or not it will.
