So the Bills really don't have that #2 since they let Frank Gore leave 2 seasons ago.

This is a case where Buffalo really did fail in a way going into the season. They needed a #2 RB in situations like these where games need that power RB type. New England has that as we saw. Buffalo doesn't....
Yah, really a big mistake to not get that extra ground-pounder. Anyone at all would do! It sort of speaks well of Allen, though, that he alone has been carrying the team pretty much. Imagine if he also had a decent running game as a safety valve. As it was, there were quite a few "almost" catches that would have made the difference. The plan could have worked out if just a little more luck had fallen their way, perhaps.

Buffalo also has been facing weaker opponents most of the season. Their defensive line is mostly young guys and so its been defense by committee with no real standouts. The Patriots were able to bully those guys.

Kinda surprised WBE didn't add McDermott to his list, after that game last night. He may not be circling the drain just yet, but I think someone just pulled the stopper out in the bathtub.

McDermott and guys like Kevin Stefanski... they get more patience from ownership and the fan base if they took teams with historically long playoff droughts into the postseason and got a win. Both of them did that recently, so I think no matter what happens, they're good for at least another year.

Which, because of a 17 week season, right now could be a label for any team except the Texans.

I repeat... Detroit is somehow not currently eliminated at 1-10-1. Nor Jacksonville who are also 2-10 but somehow still alive.
What? That doesn’t make a lick of sense! Both those teams are dead in the water, why perpetuate a clear fraud?

That's the math, but not the reality, indeed.

The NFL, though, and their 17 game schedule and 14 team playoff bracket, don't want to declare any team dead until they're literally no scenario where they can make the playoffs.

Used to be, teams could be eliminated or have a division locked up by Thanksgiving. Now... they want you to believe some of these teams are playing for something besides draft position or bettors' interest, when the rest of the football universe can see the writing on the wall.

Fans in Detroit and Jacksonville know their teams are cooked. The league isn’t fooling them by selling snake oil.

Maybe people are mistaking the odds of making the playoffs with the odds of getting the number one pick?

That is between the Lions, Jags and Texans, with Detroit in the lead.

Houston should get a special math bonus point for being the first team to be mathematically eliminated from the playoffs.

For all his shortcomings in pass coverage, Seahawks safety Jamaal Adams is done for the year with a shoulder injury.

As a result of the trade for him, the Jets are likely to get two top five picks this year, their own and Seattle's. It may be one of the worst trades in recent history... up there with the Texans sending DeAndre Hopkins to Arizona for David Johnson and a 2nd round pick.

I am not sure how many people saw this story today.

Former New Orleans Saints player Glenn Foster Jr. died in police custody Monday in Alabama

I’m surprised there haven’t been more players who’ve missed time this season because of the virus.

Considering both the money and finite amount of snaps in even a successful player’s career, it wouldn’t be hard to get enough Covid protocols and vaccinations in place to severely cut down on most outbreaks… *provided* the coaching staff and locker room are for it enough.

I genuinely think a few teams have a positive enough approach to the situation that it has cut down on total numbers, and likely more than a few players got over their doubts because of either the money or the way a few instances last year - and this year - have highlighted how you can lose many fo your finite snaps in professional football by being foolish.

Some of the same machismo that causes vaccine denial and arrogance against protocols would also go the other way; the Dan Orlofsky point of “Screw how it looks! I got my snaps in the NFL!” mindset and the embarrassment of losing a game because of something stupid will pop up just as much as “Sheeple” stupidity.

I wrote a book with them. Outlaw’s Shadow: A Sherwood Noir. Robin Hood’s evil counterpart, Guy of Gisbourne, is the main character. Feel free to give it a look: https://read.amazon.com/kp/embed?asi...E2PKBNJFH76GQP
