For a team that coasted on their DEF to win the SB ... I would be concerned that they gave up that many and yes, Tommy Touchdown put them in position to win with that FG but ... those missed FGs for DAL tell a story of a lucky DEF.

We'll see what Bruce does in the coming weeks.

Cowboys have bigger worries than losing to Brady and the Bucs last night, as RT La'el Collins has been suspended 5 games for violating the substance abuse policies of the league.

He still left 2 seconds for Dallas at the end.

Dallas totally screwed themselves out of a win.

I thought the Bucs took a LOT of penalties last night. And they made quite a few turnovers too. I think Tampa let Dallas hang in there for too long. But Dak and Brady were amazing.

To be honest I think last nights game tell us more about Dallas then it does Tampa. I mean we knew that Brady is amazing! The only real shock was their defense and Penalties. But that could be first game jitters.

Dallas came out to play. Dak played really well. If ot for a couple missed FG they would have won that. McCarthy and his clock management is not a shock. he has always kind of sucked at that.

The fact that a team with a #4 overall pick running back/2 time rushing champion and a supposedly top 10 offensive line couldn't run the ball at all, let alone when they wanted/needed to take time off the clock didn't help either. As the league as a whole gets more and more pass oriented, the game is going to evolve into a last possession wins type game. Last night was pretty much the ultimate iteration of a QB centered league and what the game looks like in that kind of league.

    2 things about this.

1 - the Bucs defense went all in on stopping the run, making it easier to pass. Especially in light of...

2- Tampa lost one of their starting corners during the first quarter, and his replacement didn't have the same level of talent. Dallas was picking on him for the rest of the game. In addition, (although I'm not 100% sure if this point), I think they were also without one of the starting safeties for the game.

Missing 2 players in the secondary, coupled with making the run game a priority, allowed for an awful lot of passing yards given up.

Makes me realize that Super Bowl McCarthy won was more about Rodgers' play than his coaching.

Its kind of like the Bill B Tom Brady debate just on a lesser scale. Did Bill B make Brady or Did Brady make Bill B?

Well in Green Bay it was a did Mike make Rodgers or did Rodgers make Mike. And I think it is clear to see what the answer to that is.

No doubt Brady is great, but he also left NE for the ready to win team in TB. TB needed a QB who didn't throw as many interceptions as completes I think Belichick has proven himself a great coach, but he did not have a good team last year and this year, he might have a future QB great, but it will be hard to tell with a rookie. One thing Bill B is not is a great GM. Could either of them have won as many SBs without the other? I don't think we can answer that. In fact, Tom on a bad team could have been Rivers in SD, a great talent on a team that never makes it. And Bill with mediocre QBs might never have won. Andy Reed before Mahomes.

As for Green Bay, yeah, we all know it was Rogers. He might not have made it back to the Superbowl, but he always gets to the door step, doing most of the heavy lifting.
Which shows that no matter how much talent you have, you need the team around you to win it all.

Ability wise, Rogers is a better QB than Brady, but Brady has the 7 rings.

I think Brady made Bill B what he is. Yes the man is a good coach maybe even great but he had an amazing team with Brady and the others. I know this is only Bill's 2nd year with out Tom and he had a not so great team last year. I am sure many will wait a few years to say if Bill could do anything with out Tom. But I doubt he wins another Super Bowl in his career.

Technically it's his third, as the Pats went 11-5 with Cassell not Brady at QB the year Tom was out with a new injury in week 1. Granted 11-5 wasn't good enough to make the playoffs in the AFC that year, but an 11-5 season is nothing to sneeze at.

As a Cowboys fan that loss was really rough. I thought they had it.

I do think they will have a top offense this year. Hopefully Dak's shoulder is good to go all year. They should be fine there.

Defense... despite almost giving up almost 400 yds passing, they looked better. Coverage looked tighter. Pass rush looked stronger despite getting no sacks. Rush Defense looked a lot better even with being soft in the interior of the line. So basically I'm hoping for an average defense this year as opposed to the worst in the league.
