Yah it sounds more to me like Beckham has had a habit of playing playground football where he runs his own route, gets open and expects the QB to find him. Apparently that approach worked ok with Eli Manning but not so much with Baker Mayfield.

As an avid playground QB and WR myself, I would love to have OBJ on my team! But I know that routes and playbooks are way more important in the NFL.

Not just expecting the QB to find him, but expecting the QB to be watching him until he gets open and ignoring all other options on every play.

I watched that video and I almost pissed myself when Rodgers called himself a critical thinker.

When a player is on waivers, any team can "claim" them if they want to add them to their active roster. The team with the highest waiver wire priority acquires them and has to make a corresponding move to fit him on their active roster. If they have less than 4 years of time accrued, they can be placed on the practice squad or if they had a break in service (like AP did).

When the trade deadline passes, every player that is "cut" must go through waivers, even veterans with more than 4 years of experience.

When a player is waived, their contract is not terminated. Instead, they go on the waiver wire, where teams can put in a claim for them. If a team claims them, then he joins the new team on his current contract (that's why the Browns restructured it). If no team claims him in a designated period (usually by noon league time [which is EST I'm pretty sure] of the next day but I think it will be Monday this season under the new rules), his contract is terminated and he becomes an unrestricted free agent. A player who "clears" waivers and becomes an unrestricted free agent is free to negotiate and sign a contract with any NFL team, and vice versa.

If he gets claimed, Browns will get a 4th or 5th round pick (the new rules are confusing about how to get the higher pick but I think they'll get 5R and owe less money if he's claimed off waivers). If he goes UFA, the pick is conditional depending on how well the team does (i.e. when Gronk unretired and made it to the SB, NE got a 1R COMP pick) but usually isn't much higher than a 6R.

Oh please let it be the Jets ....
Lions, Jets, Texans ... any of those would be perfect for him.

A team that used the waiver wire correctly 2 seasons ago was Kansas City. Arizona had released Terrell Suggs (DE) placing him on waivers. The Chiefs claimed Suggs 1st before the 49ers did. The 49ers had a better record and didn't get Suggs.

Now Suggs at 1st was not on board joining KC those final weeks as a role player. But Reid talked him into coming on where Suggs pass rush helped KC in playoffs and Super Bowl.

The waiver wire can help a team at times. Here if he's claimed he could give the NY Jets what Wilson needs and that is a big play WR.

The Jets need many things, a big play receiver among them.

Critical thinker is what a lot of dumbasses who have been bamboozled by conspiracy theories are calling themselves nowadays.

Just finished watching anime and checked out this video. As a person of color, for Rodgers to compare himself to MLK is nothing short of offensive and repugnant. That’s it, I’m done with this scumbag!

You know... the Packers spent much of the offseason trying to make amends with Rodgers and placating his needs after seemingly upsetting him with the Jordan Love pick, and boy, Green Bay should have just said "fuck it". Ironically, it was these circumstances that ultimately led to Aaron Rodgers destroying his career today.

Look, I get it; vaccines be scary, and no matter what, they will never be 100% safe against anything, but to say "I did my research" while you go and say shit like "woke mob" and "cancel culture" tells me all you did was look at Facebook memes and some crank on YouTube peddling woo. It also means you've planted your flag firmly on a very specific side of society. Yeah, people will defend him (which already has happened, to the shock of nobody), and people will view him as a hero or a martyr, but he's also a bonehead that endangered people around him. As much as similar anti-vax dips like Carson Wentz aggravate me, and they do, at least they were up front and said "I'm not taking the vaccine" while following NFL procedure.

The funny thing about this; when MLK said the stuff he did, he was saying it from the perspective of a black progressive with (given America's perspective towards these concepts) socialist ideas who felt that if society wasn't going to do the right thing and offer reparations after decades of mistreatment, then the least we could do is treat everyone fairly in life when it comes to employment, voting, and education. But, boy, do people on the right love to use him as a shield for their stupidity and hostility towards common sense.

Nah Rodgers didnt destroy his career. He comes back wins some game and gets them into the playoffs. In the offseason he will be picked up. he is a first ballot Hall of Famer. A lot of owners will forget this if it means he gives them a chance.

Aaron Rodgers invoking MLK made me think of this particular Sports Night clip (Start at the 13:40 mark):

Rodgers and Beckham are two sides of the same candy ass coin.

I'm still curious is the NFL suspends him for a couple games for ignoring Covid-19 policies for un-vaccinated players. Or if it turns out, Green Bay was allowing him to, and the NFL punishes them for ignoring the policy, and fines them or takes draft picks away.

There's still a lot to develop with this.

As usual, I fumble with words. I should have stuck with "reputation".

Some team will pick him up, but what team will be desperate enough to... oh.

    Lots of 'em.
