I think you're right, he would have to botch things to that level.

It could be in the realm of possibility. Right now, his only win is against the Jets, and that's practically a layup.

The hot seat check doesn't really feel like a thing until Week 8. Except for guys who are obviously in deep s*** like last year when everyone was immediately waiting for the axe to drop on Bill O'Brien.

Agreed. The ONLY hot seat Darth Hoodie will be on is in his car. Belichick can call his own shot on when he leaves, Robert Kraft won't be so stupid as to fire him if he has a bad season or two.

Outside of massage parlors, Kraft typically does show good judgment.

My Eagles' defense, said to be a strength, took a big hit after DE Brandon Graham was lost for the season after injuring his achilles on a non-contact play during Sunday's loss to San Francisco. The timing for that loss couldn't be worse as we face Dallas and their potent, if not dangerous offense on Monday night.

Just got an alert from Bleacher Report that Justin Fields will start on Sunday against Cleveland in place of an injured Andy Dalton. Okay, Bears fans, you got what you wanted, you better hope Fields is up for the challenge.

They should start the 3rd string QB. Honestly ....you can't afford to miss on another QB and going to him too early is a danger. But its the Bears and they seem to be doing it.

The sad thing is if Fields has a bad game then Bears fans will turn on him so fast., Because that is what they do.

    Bill is 27-32 in NE w/o Brady (5-11 2000, 0-2 '01, 11-5 '08, 3-1 '16, 7-9 '20, 1-1 '21).

    He's 55-60 in total w/o him as a HC.

If you want to say Brady is 100% the reason NE won all those years and nothing to do with coaching, HoF kickers, HoF DEF, etc. ... then yes, Bill should be fired mid-season.

    Otherwise, he's safe.

Personally, that 11-5 season in 2008 with a QB2, that 3-1 start in 2016 with a QB3 & a QB2, and the 7-9 season last year with cap casualties & no real OFF threats for a washed-up Super Cam speak volumes to his coaching ability. That 5-11 2000 season was to be expected when a new coach is installing a new system. You also have to remember that Brady's last SB win with NE was a defensive showcase which is firmly on the coach. Bill will be fine.

All he has to do is turn out a winning season or 2 without Tommy Touchdown and his legacy will be intact. He doesn't he really need a playoff run.

Even though the season is only two weeks old, I see Buffalo as the class of AFC East despite their season opening stunble, followed by....yep, New England. Miami's taken a step backward after losing Tua to injury while the Jets are, well, the Jets, meaning they stink on wheat. It's entirely possible the Pats could reach nine wins, maybe even give the Bills a run for their money.

Tu'a Tagliovoa is going to be out for Miami this week, so Jacoby Brissett will get the start for the 'phins.

The Raiders, should they capitalize, could go to 3-0.

So on ESPN , poor Mike Greenburg (a long suffering NY Jets fan) has brought up how bad a job the Jets have done with Zach Wilson to this point. That Wilson last week was tasked with going out there against the Patriots and be told to play like a 10 year veteran. Where he was facing one of the best defensive coordinators in the game and told to throw 20+ yard passes against them.

While Belichick had Mac Jones playing check downs and safe , not putting the entire game on him. Which benefits Jones long term as he's brought along. While Wilson is gonna struggle with having to carry everything.

This is why I laugh when some Broncos fans complain that they should have picked Josh Allen. Do they really think Allen could have grew as a QB under that crap show of a coaching staff and revolving door at the time? He wouldn't have learned a thing to grow his NFL game and likely would be considered a bust right now instead of trying to take the leap to the Super Bowl with the Bills. Granted his he hasn't had a great start to the 2021 year, but that 2020 coming out party never would have happened in Denver.

It is starting to sound like Wilson is on a course to flame out according to the sports talk hot takes. And they seem surprised. But he's playing for THE JETS. Why are they shocked?

It's also on WEEK 2 of a 17 game season.
