Default Corner Box Art Appreciation 2021

Miss the corner boxes? I used to love how they would change depending on team members or what may have been happening story-wise.

They are what made the Marvel Comics stand out and I’d love to see them return.

I made this one a few years ago and posted it in a FB group; someone else then put it on his blog...which is even cooler.
Colored from a panel from Hulk #215 from ESSENTIAL HULK vol. 6, reversed the image and then slapped it on a screenshot of the cover.

Joe Jusko did painted versions of a lot of these as variant covers a few years ago. I got a bunch of them. Always loved the corner boxes!

I would love for Mark Brooks to do all the Corner Boxes!! I loved that about Marvel and thought (at my young age) that was one of the big things that made Marvel stand out on the racks. I loved seeing when they would change them around, They did a thing with Alpha flight for a bit where they would spotlight one character and then have all the heads around the figure, rotating all the characters through, which was very cool at the time. The last dozen or so issues of Dazzler had a different image, usually her modeling an outfit and then displaying her powers. I loved when they got creative and really miss these on the covers.AF41 (3).jpgdazz33 (2).jpgdazz40 (2).jpg

I LOVED them as a kid in the 90s! They always fascinated me. And as went I went back and read older comics from before my time I loved seeing how they changed over time. The ones from the 60s especially had a certain charm to them, but I love them from all the decades. There was something about them that appealed to kids I think, and Marvel dropped them about when they stopped trying to appeal to kids and started catering to adults(at least it seemed like to me). I actually made some corner box banners that were used for the Golden, Silver, and Bronze Age message board(and one for the 80s and 90s message board section) on comicboards.com a long while back-

The women's history month variants all had corner boxes that was kinda rad.
Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.
