Default DC To Launch Batman Beyond: Neo-Year #1 In April 2022

It's being reported by Bleeding Cool that DC is launching a new Batman Beyond book, Batman Beyond: New-Year in April. While they may not always be reliable, they've included a pic from an upcoming comic announcing it.

I'm assuming that it will be spinning out of the Batman Beyond story from this week's Batman: Urban Legends #7 story.

What they should've done is use Future State to launch a Beyond-Verse.

I'm guessing it is going to have nothing in common with that Batman Beyond book that ran for years that spun out of Futures End event back in the New 52.

Well, I guess it's nice to know they still care about Batman Beyond .

    DCAU

DCAU Comics (because most try to pretend that a lot of this comic isn't canon)

    Future's End

Rebirth (I'm not sure how much of this still builds from Future's End).

As teased on the final page of his Urban Legends story, next year will bring the launch of Batman Beyond: Neo-Year, a six-issue miniseries from writers Collin Kelly and Jackson Lanzing and artist Max Dunbar, the same creative team who brought Terry back to solve Bruce's murder. Drawing inspiration from classic noir stories like Batman: Year One and Batman: The Long Halloween, Neo-Year will follow Terry as he sets out to rebuild the Batman legacy for himself, even as the very heart of Neo Gotham seeks to oppose him at every turn.

Really liked the issue, and it sets up a status quo I've always kind of wanted to see, Terry being Bruce free, as much as I like their dynamic, fully independent no longer the trainee but doing his own thing. It also seems to be independent of any of that New 52/Rebirth continuity, so its definitely looking up for our favourite Batman of the future. I hope this does well enough to justify an ongoing. More Terry is never a bad thing, especially since the show ended sooner than it should have, and his comics have been mild at best. I can see things looking good in the future, no pun intended.

I’m happy they’re back, they’ve been the filler guys at DC for the most part but I’ve enjoyed what I’ve read from them.
