While this is definitely in Venditti's wheelhouse, I just can't with Oeming's art.

If the reviews are good I'll probably pick up the trade.

All Bendis stuff still exist, so this must be another universe.

I agree this miniseries is set in an alternate universe, but the Bendis additions to Krypton's lore have been limited to books that Bendis is writing. PKJ, Tom Taylor and every other writer have ignored Bendis' portrayal of Mr Oz (I refuse to call him Jor-El on principle), The Circle and Krypton's destruction being caused by the one dimensional Rogol Zaar. Only Jon Kent's age up and Superman's secret identity reveal have been carried forward into DC's ongoing history. I suspect a lot of his run will be retconned sooner or later. Nick Spencer's retcon of Sins Past in his ASM proves The Big Two are still willing to retcon parts of comic history away.

Doomed Planet. Desperate scientists. Last hope. Kindly couple.

I'm not sure we need 6 issues to say those 8 words (+ the birth of Kara), but I suppose it might be interesting.

Every post I make, it should be assumed by the reader that the following statement is attached: "It's all subjective. What works for me doesn't necessarily work for you, and vice versa, and that's ok. You may have a different opinion on it, but this is mine. That's the wonderful thing about being a comics fan, it's all subjective."

I thought the same at first but someone posted some pics of Oeming’s art that actually made me reconsider:

If Venditti gives him this kind of trippy scifi to draw it might actually be pretty good.

Yeah the biggest issue is that we already have House of El by Claudia Gray doing this same kind of plot, and I’d rather get a Superfamily book for the characters who don’t have books of their own. But maybe that’s still coming considering Waid’s book at the very least is still in the pipeline. So I’ll take this for now and hope the rest get something in the future.

    Hmmm... not bad, not bad.

I'm still traumatized by the recently wrapped Midnighter run I think. I'm usually a writing > art guy, but those images took me right out of the story.

    Kinda like JRJR drawing Superman?

I enjoyed the first volume. Interesting take on Kryptonian culture and the last days of Krypton through (of course) a YA romance.

I'd rather have Oeming writing for himself

Venditti wrote a really solid Zod over in Hal an’ Pals so I’m interested in seeing how he writes him here. Seems clear Zod’s coup will be covered and seeing Venditti’s take on that could be fun since he writes Zod as more morally gray rather than a mustache twirler.

Thought beasts! Well there’s going to be trippy scifi stuff at the very least.
