99. Ed Wood (1994) Dramatized biography of the cult sci fi/horror filmmaker set in the 1950s, during the production of his most well known movies, directed by Tim Burton and starring Johnny Depp as the lead, with Martin Landau giving a fantastic performance in a supporting role as Bela Lugosi. I remember when the movie came out and having reservations, I enjoyed Burton's previous films, but at first glance, Ed Wood seemed to be quite a departure from what he had done to that point, so I was more than a little skeptical of what I saw as a "biographic documentary" of a fringe director I had little knowledge of at the time. I went into the theater seeing it for the first time with low expectations and ended up loving it, and to this day view it as Burton's best film.
100. Huset (2016) - Also known as The House, set during WW II, it's a Norwegian film about two German soldiers and their Norwegian captive who take shelter from the cold and snow in an isolated house, which just happens to be haunted or possessed. It doesn't offer up anything new to the subgenre, but it does have the requisite atmosphere, especially with the shadowy interior scenes, though the exterior nighttime shots were so low contrast it was often difficult to tell what was happening on screen, which could likely have been by design, personally I thought it detracted from film. Also, most of the dialogue is in German, and there's a good bit of it, so you're likely to miss visual details while reading subtitles. This came highly recommended from two friends who are big horror fans (and movies in general), often their tastes intersect with my own, but in this case I felt the film was, at best, average, didn't dislike it, but also don't feel compelled to revist in the future.
