Kieron Gillen Returns to X-Men Comics in 2022

I don't recall having a negative reaction to his run. I liked the Extinction Team and his version of Sinister. And recently I've enjoyed Die. But he's not an "auto-buy" for me and I also don't really want to get as many titles as I had been, so it all depends on concept and cast for whatever he ends up doing.

P.S. Zeb Wells had the most well-received side x-book this year, i don't understand why he is the one who is leaving...

He prob wanted to? I mean he's going to the Spidey office, so that may be a promotion as far as he's concerned?

I honestly hope if he is coming on that he does something new and exciting w Excalibur but going by that X-Summit picture it looks like everyone is still on board except for one of the best writers Zeb Wells.

I'm actually surprised at all the negative comments. I was under the impression that a lot of people liked Gillen's work on X-Men Uncanny X-Men was certainly one of the standout books during that era and Generation Hope was certainly underrated. Not to mention his AvX tie in was one of the best out of the bunch "Kiss the Phoenix".

I'm pretty excited if his return is true. I hope he gets to write a Five book. I miss his Hope characterization and she's been largely ignored as a character since AvX.

Same he is another of those writers who had good ideas but you could tell was limited by what was going on with the mutant rights. i would add Cullen Bunn, and Greg Pak to the list as well. I wouldn't mind seeing what they could do in an environment that promoted idea growth.

Storm in particular is a character i could be wrong but a lot of writers were excited to use at the beginning ie. Gillen Extinction Team, even some bunn promo stuff and blood storm, kind of feel like if he could he would have grabbed the hidden years xmen from the past, bendis in avengers and then they got hit with whatever the mandate was when it went left.

He is not a Scemma supporter, unfortunately. Or at least he wasn't thinking keeping them together was the best idea back when he was on the X-books.

Agreed. Imagine actually pretending to care about Jean's freedom as a character/individual while constantly campaigning for her to be paired up with the other male character who's coatails she's ridden for relevancy for 25+ years. And that same character also being the poster boy for toxic masculinity in comics LOL.
