The issue with the strategy above is that Genos' best shot is around equal to Psykorochi's spiral beam that carved of a section of the planet.

That, to me, is a level of damage that no Viltrumite can just soak through. It's like, legit threat to life as was Space Racer.

Thragg, which my phone is attempting to correct to "the egg" amusingly, really needs to dodge that attack.
I dunno, I know we are getting into "how hot is the sun compared to a nuke" territory, and "how deep in the sun can they go" and "how hot did Robert Kirkman think the sun is," but... A heat based attack taking out a guy who fights in the sun and gets caught in the blast wave of an exploding planet just doesn't sit right.

Maybe slicing that chunk of the planet is really that much more powerful than continued presence in the sun, I dunno.

My metric would be Space Racer, while it's not concretely on the level of "core a planet and keep going," it's certainly in the ballpark and Nolan seemed pretty sure that Space Racer's gun would take out any Viltrumite who got with it. While it's more an absence of evidence, we do know Thragg did dodge it when he was chasing Space Racer.

My general take is, given that Viltrumites broadly tend to operate at the mountain level [sub-planetary] something that can do way above that is a big problem. Looking over the sequence again, Genos actually has two levels to his dragon cannon thing. True Lightning Cannon which briefly matched Psykorochi's planet slicing beam but was ultimately overpowered and his True Spiral Beam which actually bored through it and split it apart.

My view is, Thragg really doesn't want to get hit by that as I think it has the potential to not only maim but also kill him.
