Default New set of novels announced-including Luke+Lando's adventure

    https://www.cbr.com/star-wars-force-...ne-wars-books/

Shadow of the Sith will deal with Luke and Lando's quest to find Exegol and track Ochii (Who's getting a lot more background in the current Darth Vader comic). Also the Lando's daughter plotline that was mostly dropped from the movie.

Brotherhood will deal with Anakin's promotion to knight, presumably taking place between AOTC and the Clone Wars movie. Also seems to be the Disney canon version of the Cato Neimoudia mission mentioned in ROTS.

Padawan seems to be an early Obi-Wan/Qui-Gon adventure, similar perhaps to the old Jedi Apprentice/Quest novels.

There's also a new anthology book, Stories of Jedi and Sith.

I have zero interest in anything to do with Ochii or the plot to the sequels but the Anakin and Obi-Wan books might be alright.

I'm down for a Luke and Lando novel .

Ventress! Nice to see more of her popping up again .

An Anakin focused novel showing him becoming a knight could be cool. I'm always down for more Anakin .

I don't know if we need another "Obi-Wan as an Apprentice" novel after Master and Apprentice, even if it could be an interesting story. I got my hopes up that we'd see finally what happened with Satine.

I think it's implied that this is a younger Obi-Wan story set during probably his first year with Qui-Gon, whereas in M & A the two had been around for a couple of years.

    On the spoiler ...

Wasn't that a concept that was toyed with for one of the sequels?

Yep, although I think in that case it was Kylo Ren I think who would be receiving the visions (and ROS implied that he might've, but could have been Palpatine mimicking him).

Brotherhood just came out and seems to be getting good reviews. Apparently it involves the incident on Cato Neimodia mentioned in ROTS and also might explain why for some weird reason Padme trusts the Trade Federation early in Clone Wars.

Also this is interesting. Reports are that the new foe is a familiar face. The hands seem to be blueish so I'm thinking that it might be a force-sensitive Chiss from the Thrawn novels. Also I suppose it could be Dr. Aphra, who has been known to mess around with a lot of Sith artifacts....

I don't think its Aphra; the article says the character is well-known in the novels; Aphra is almost a comics-exclusive character (a short story in the first From a Certain Point of View collection and the published script for her audio drama are her only "novel" appearances).

I think Aphra would probably be too young to be in this.

After looking through things it appears it's most likely Kiza, a Pantoran (The blue aliens represented by Lucas himself in ROTS) Sith cultist from the aftermath novels. I'm guessing they're tying those acolytes to the Sith Eternal.

I know the CBR front page is just clickbait and can't bother to perform any actual journalism. Or, you know, read the book they are writing an article on. But they posted an article on Brotherhood, accusing it of removing the old 2D Clone Wars cartoon from canon.

When, in fact, it does the EXACT OPPOSITE. More, two of the specific incidents the article in question laments losing are LITERALLY REFERENCED in the book. While a third is implied. And the fourth, well, nothing in the book explicitly rules it out.

So, really, they have one gripe out of five.

    Absolute garbage of a website.

ETA: Also, Brotherhood was solid stuff. Felt like a series of episodes from The Clone Wars, which isn't a bad thing. The core plot is fairly boilerplate, though there is a nice swerve in one side plot towards the end that I enjoyed. But the core voices are good, and it felt like a nice transition between AotC and where the two men are in TCW.

And, it totally does, at least partially, re-enshrine the 2D Clone Wars into canon. Mace's battle with the super battle droids and Ki-Adi-Mundi's battle with Grievous are both called out. And there is a small and easy to miss reference to the notion that Anakin might have seen Ventress' fanblade fighter once before, which is sort of a side allusion to their battle in the cartoon. Sounds like we're going with the "dark and rainy, thus didn't really see his attacker" theory, which explains why Anakin might not already know about Ventress in the book.

I still find it weird, however, that we've never got an actual explanation for Anakin's scar. He doesn't have it yet as the book ends, but he obviously does shortly thereafter at Christophsis. So we've narrowed the window down considerably for when it could have happened. His reaction to the major players in the Separatist camp during TCW means it's unlikely that any of them gave it to him, so that suggests no Dooku, Grievious or Ventress. I'm kind of hoping for Durge, honestly.

Durge was reintroduced in Aphra but given that he's a long-lived alien it's possible he could have fought in the wars like his legends version.

Regarding the scar, in Legends it was Ventress in the Dark Horse comics.

Well nice to see something with Luke post Episode 6 and pre episode 7. I believe this will be the first time a canon novel touches anything with him during that time period?
