    Default Superman and Batman stories

So, just watched the Superman/Batman Public Enemies movie and it got me interested in reading their WF stories and the other ongoings

    A couple questions:

    1. Other than the occasional crossover these stories are self-contained and continuity free?

    2. Based on publication history, it's Superman 76 followed by a lengthy run in World's Finest, then the Superman/Batman series in 2003, the New 52 Superman/Batman series and the current one in 2019?

    3. What are some of your favorite stories with these two?

    1. Kind of? Public Enemies for example is heavily based on the storylines that happened in Loeb’s Superman run such as Lex getting elected. But you don’t need to read that to enjoy Public Enemies. Williamson’s first arc of Batman/Superman is basically a sequel to Metal. You don’t have to read Metal but you’ll enjoy it more if you do.
    2. Yeah I think that’s right
    3. Pak had a good handle on the dynamic, the New 52 series is pretty solid when it isn’t getting derailed by crossovers. My favorite arcs are the Loeb stuff, Pak’s first arc where the two meet their Earth 2 counterparts, and the Yang run that just finished.

World's Finest by Dave Gibbons and Steve Rude is great. It was a largely self-contained three issue miniseries and I'm pretty sure the collected edition is still in print.

This should tick all your boxes and is one of my favourite stories starring the two.
"Has Sariel summoned you here, Azrael? Have you come to witness the miracle of your brethren arriving on Earth?"

"I WILL MIX THE ASHES OF YOUR BONES WITH SALT AND USE THEM TO ENSURE THE EARTH THE TEMPLARS TILLED NEVER BEARS FRUIT AGAIN!"

"*sigh* I hoped it was for the miracle."

Dan Watters' Azrael was incredible, a constant delight and perhaps too good for this world (but not the Forth). For the love of St. Dumas, DC, give us more!!!
