However the game also has an OHMSS mission which doesn't really make any sense in the context given what happens later in the movies.

LOL! Blasphemy that no one has mentioned James Bond Jr. from the 1990's cartoon, is that canon, how does he fit into the picture?

Well he did learn the game from his uncle James...

Spectre screwed that up by saying James was an orphan, therefore no brother to have a son to name James Bond Jr.

The orphan thing was pretty much part of the character's origin from the past already, it's already mentioned in the original series in Goldeneye, and right from the start in Craig's continuity during the first scene with Vesper. Also mentioned a few times in Skyfall.

JBJR's just a weird alternate continuity, it would also have to have Dr.No, Goldfinger and Oddjob back from the dead as well.

Wouldn’t he only be named James Bond Jr. if his father was called James Bond, not his uncle?

I have no desire to see that and hopefully neither does anyone else.

    Oh.

I just assumed they...got better? I did wonder why suddenly Dr. No was green and Oddjob a...DJ? That cartoon was weird but fun.

I just assumed it was a way to sidestep making James Bond a dad at the time. But apparently he had no siblings, so...*shrugs*

The show also had Q's Grandson, but that's a bit easier to reconcile since Q does mention having a family in DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER.

I actually don't think the reboot is that soft. I'd go as far as to argue that Judi Dench was playing a different version of the same character and Casino Royale was a total reboot of the franchise.

Although of course it's an unofficial film, it seems the old Connery films aren't canon to Never Say Never Again either. You'd think Bond would find the whole ordeal-Domino, Largo, Nukes etc...strangely familiar.

Her approach is somewhat different. Sure, she still is a bit confrontational with Bond at times but appears a bit less icy than her Brosnan performance.

Just saw it myself. Very very good. Anybody else catch the weird nod to Blofeld's cat during the "Birthday party"?

Great ending to the Daniel Craig saga, my only problem is M lived, and presumably kept his job despite getting both James and Felix killed

TVTROPES pointed out that that it's kind of ironic/hypocritical that the first time he showed up he was criticizing Judi's M for making a major mistake.

BTW speaking of M there's a painting of 80's M Robert Brown in addition to Dench in the movie.
