    Default Dsillusionment: Characters and Trope

This question was posed to me and I wasn't sure how to answer it.

Looking for characters who once idolized someone or something, only to be seriously disappointed. Disappointed enough to do a 180 degrees turn and become the sworn enemy of that which they once admired and supported.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

What about the main villain Syndrome from the Incredibles movies.

Sorry that is what came to mind because my friend and I watched that this afternoon

Buddy Pine. He was the kid in The Invincibles who became their villain Syndrome.

From Transformers, Orion Pax idolized Megatron (in the '80s animated series):

This was the first thing I thought of as well.

I think silver-age Lex Luthor counts. He really wanted to be a good guy when he was teen but after his friendship with Superboy fell apart and people in Smallville turned against him, then he slowly turned evil.

Here is one I thought of. How about Clash from Amazing Spiderman. In the Learning to Crawl storyline he loved Spiderman was a huge fan and ended up hating him and fighting him after meeting him.

Jason Todd got pretty disillusioned with Batman's "no killing" code, I'd say.

The Plutonian from Irredeemable - basically Superman snaps and destroys the world.

And the reverse in the companion book, Incorruptible, where the fallen hero's main villain has an epiphany and tries to be heroic (much harder than the opposite).
    Dark does not mean deep.
