It will probably be about as monumental as the Jurgens Titans or the electric Superman in a year or two.

In the short term yes. DC seems intent on ramming Bendis's Legion reboot down our throats in hopes of attracting enough young readers to the title....to which I say Bwa Ha! Ha! Ha!, good luck on that one.
Long term, that depends on whether DC wants a Legion title that ever sells again, because without a reversion of Brin, Garth & the rest of the members to their original forms.....you might as well send that team straight to the comic graveyard.
We can only hope it wont be canon or will at least be used to usher the real Legion back into focus. (Although I do miss some of the previous booted characters like the aforementioned Thunder (Shazam like character), Kent Shakespear, Andromeda, Catspaw, Dragonmage, Xs, Gates, Dragonwing...we could fill an entire Legion with characters that have been deleted from reboots!

Isn't XS the only one of those who exists now? She showed up in Williamson's last Flash arc Finish Line, presumably she's still around in the future (probably restored to the timeline when Bart was) but is no longer a Legionnaire (not unlike how Jon is now an ex-Legionnaire, and Clark, Conner and Kara's tenures are forgotten).

I always liked the newer heroes, but was never sure what era they belonged in to vote for them. I read the second collection of bendis’s legion, and while I like some things, I still think the team is a bit too big, and everything’s still too talky. Do we really need doctor fate and the white witch in the same team? Chameleon boy and monster boy? I liked the new version of mordru, and mon el being a descendant of superboy, as well as krypton being around, we’re nice touches. Ultra boy is a bit too arrogant for my liking.

I think restorative nostalgia is the number one issue with comic book fans.
A fine distinction between two types of Nostalgia:
Reflective Nostalgia allows us to savor our memories but accepts that they are in the past
Restorative Nostalgia pushes back against the here and now, keeping us stuck trying to relive our glory days.
wait what event is happening?
