Default Godzilla vs. The SMOKE Monster?

From Godzilla Anniversary Short Brings Back The King of Monster’s Weirdest Foe:
The short is an homage to the classic movie Godzilla vs. The Smoke Monster and is being released to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the movie, which was originally released in 1971.

Was this movie ever released with that title? Or is this just another example of "writers who can produce in-depth premium content with expert knowledge in one or more of CBR’s featured categories" messing up?

Looks like the article needs an editor.

My bluray says vs. Smog Monster/Hedorah.

Need one of our resident Godzilla experts to chime in!

Does CBR even have (real) editors anymore?

The Smoke Monster was what LOST fans called the entity on the island. Now, picturing Godzilla stepping on Jack Shepherd is making me smile.

Never heard 'smoke monster' used before. The movie is usually called either 'Godzilla vs. the Smog Monster' or 'Godzilla vs Hedorah.'

I just want to see how they pull off the flashbacks where Godzilla's past somehow intersects with each of the 815 passengers.

His tail is what knocked the plane out of the sky in the first place. Everything you thought you knew about Lost was wrong!

Godzilla is the long lost brother of Jack and Claire. He swatted them out of the air to finally meet them!

This movie is basically 'tried for big but failed' to me. A lot of potential and a good if muddled message but lackluster and boring execution

My mom took me to "Godzilla vs the Smog Monster" when I was a kid. She said it was the worst movie she ever saw in her life. After that, she'd drop us off at the matinee while she got her hair done and did the grocery shopping if we wanted to see a Godzilla movie.

Was that when the movie first was released? Because Godzilla movies kinda sucked back then. Basically 66-73 was bad for Godzilla, and 70-73 for Toho daikaiju in general
