Which is basically the same thing I said in my last sentence.
No one is looking for comics to satiate their desires, people are complaining about any half-attractive women in comics when men are just as s*xualized if not more in current times and it's denied.
Please explain, so much of media like male models and love stories targeted as women s*xualize men the same way as comics. How would women draw men?Not to mention the same people bashing women in comics are the ones drooling over over-s*xualized males on their TL so the male point of view thing is not true.
Also if a lot of people on here(who actually buy the comics) think it's okay, and people on twitter complaining(who usually don't buy comics or even read them) have a problem then it shouldn't be paid attention to.The same way rap pages posted the superman is bi thing and people were furious, they shouldn't be payed any attention because regardless of their opinion they don't buy/read comics and are just using it to get clout.
Agreed, until they deny men aren't put through something similar in media(not saying it's equal btw, but denying it happens at all) and saying all men are trash. Then it's not a discussion as much as generalizing and s*xism.
Not to mention most of the people complaining/agreeing w/ this don't even buy the comics, they either pirate them or just look at and complain about the cover art.Ofc. they shouldn't buy what they don't like, but "progressive" comics doesn't sell nearly as much consistently, do they?(By progressive here I mean art these people deem acceptable). They complain about JSC/Gomez yet their art sells, and the art these people love sells much less.So either they are a vocal minority, or aren't supporting comics they feel are good or worse both.
And they complain about stuff that isn't even that exaggerated, the new JSC cover for MJ/Black Cat one shot is fine IMO.The irony is they will eat up stuff like the new Robin covers happily. The Double standard is so poorly hidden it's hilarious.
JSC cover which is "disgusting"
The new Robin cover which is "soooo good"
Even Bleedingcool who was defending the guy who "fixed" JSC's art admits it's fanservice but ofc is males being over-s*xualized so it's perfectly fine....

1: Campbell has a particular style of art. I personally don't like it (cheesecake in general) but renowned artists became renowned because their art is visually recogniseable. As a creative he's allowed to draw however he wants, without anyone telling him what to draw and how to draw. You don't like your fictional teen characters looking a little "too mature" for their age...then don't buy/view his work. There's plenty of comic book art that "caters" to what you want so no need to get hung up on what you don't want.
2: It's easier and faster to develop a "same face/body" style (especially for the classic artists who honed their talents with pencil on paper instead of the modern stylus on tablet)
It's not that Romita Jr., Silvestri, Campbell, Lee, can't do different faces and body-types but when it comes to producing as many comics as they do on a deadline, easier is faster is better.
And...If the hero description doesn't specifically call for "regular" face, height, body, size...we're getting beauty-full and athletic, ie the "super hero "ideal".

Lord Ewing *Praise His name! Uplift Him in song!* Your divine works will be remembered and glorified in worship for all eternity. Amen!
Men aren't nearly as sexualized as women. They never have been. So it's not a fair comparison
