    Default UNCHARTED movie

Any thoughts on the trailer? Judging by that alone, seems they kind of merged all the game storylines together-Drake's brother from IV, ship-related treasure from I and IV, some of the settings from II and III (The Tomb Raider movie also kind of did this as it had elements from the 2013 reboot and "Rise of") along with some of their "set pieces" (In particular the classic cargo plane scene from 3). Kind of curious if Tati Gabrielle is playing some version of Nadine, the mercenary henchwoman introduced in 4 and given more to do in the Lost Legacy spin off.

I like Tom Holland but he looks too young to be playing Nathan Drake and Mark Wahlberg looks nothing like Sully.

I've never played any of the games but the trailer actually looked really great...like the first video game based movie that actually looks good.

Isn't this based early in Drake's career. I agree about Wahlberg, though

I mean, they're adapting games way later than that. I never got the sense this was being primed as a "young Nathan Drake" or origin story movie.

Yeah, the third and fourth games go quite extensively into Drake's origins (Which are sort of a mix between Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade's opening and The Goonies), and they don't line up with what we see here. While some video game movies have managed to stay within game canon (Assassins's Creed for example, but that's fairly easy) this doesn't seem to be the case.

Some speculate that Sully will gain the mustache at the end of the movie, kind of like how Bond didn't say his famous name catchphrase until the end of CASINO ROYALE, or Kirk getting the yellow shirt at the end of Star Trek etc.

Funny thing is, it was Nolan North's OTHER famous video game character, Desmond Miles from AC, who started as a bartender...

Looks meh. With the games themselves already being cinematic a movie seems redundant to me. Where's Elena?

    I've never played the games.
Fidelity in this case doesn't register with me.

    Looks like a fun movie.

They do seem to be adapating the part of Nathan Drake's backstory that Chloe was his first love before he met Elena.

Do you really expect Hollywood to accurately adapt these games? I'd like to see that but I'm too cynical to believe the production company actually knows how any of these games actually work. Anyway, Holland's in his mid 20s so I think he'll work fine as a mid-20s Drake, assuming that's the direction they're heading. The rest of the movie, barring maybe Antonio Banderas, is what I'm worried about. And I'm not even sure Banderas is playing a character from the games.

Speaking of cynical, what's with the Led Zeppelin song? Why does every trailer need a retro song? Who are they appealing to?

I don't think it's that hard, especially with a game as cinematic as Uncharted. Holland doesn't even look like a mid-20's Drake.

I thought it was fine but I'm not huge Uncharted fan.

I did get the reference to the third game tho. The prequel element is a double edge sword to me. I don't think Nate's past was that interesting to explore further than what the 4th game gave us.

So I'm gonna pass on it.

I don't think it's hard either. But Hollywood had a way of messing things up anyway, especially when it comes to video game adaptations.

I agree Holland doesn't look like Drake but accurately looking the video game character isn't really always possible. I think the personality of characters is the main thing

Bandaras might be a composite character of Marlowe from 3 and Rafe from 4. I'm just going by the trailer here though. Funny thing is Antonio is also in Indy 5.

I can see Bandaras being Navarro from the first game.
