Boom has not done any favors for the Buffyverse like they managed to do with Power Rangers. Its sad.

I guess Power Rangers had less riding on it. What didn't you like about the Boom Buffyverse?.

    Where to get started?

    A. It's rushed.

    B. It tried to modernize BTVS but failed and changed some characters far too much.

    C. Buffy is far from the main character.

Some the problems that you're having with it MIGHT be from the fall of Joss Whedon and Boom trying to distance themselves from him, because of the scandals and revelations that came out about him. Wasn't he supposed to be an advisor or something in the comics that Boom published based on shows he created or co-created?

As too your second point that is why you modernize a series like Buffy, the Vampire Slayer is that you have to change characters a LOT to make them work in a modern setting. I'm not sure a character like Cordelia who's basically "a rich bitch mean girl" trope at start of the show and that all she was for a season or two until her father got busted and sent to prison and she started dating Xander.

But at the start of the series she was little more than just a rich bitch for no real reason that I can remember. Now of days if you made a wanna be social media influencer who not rich but poor either, but at first she doesn't care who she has steps on to get views, clicks, and money so she can go to Hollywood and she sees who someone like Willow a rival and takes shots at Buffy and Xander because they're Willow's friends, and she says or does something stupid that causes her budding media empire to crash down around her and they offer to help. Then you can any direction from there.

    Oh ok.

The crossover was rushed and didn't use Angel well. There were a lot of forced cameos before the crossover that went nowhere.

I'd say Cordy, Dru, and Fred are the big casualties. Willow is fine. Xander and Spike are victims of flanderization.

None of these are due to the the JW incident, they were problems from the 1st issue.

The characters of Buffy arent from the 60s, they are from like 20 years ago, their personalities arent really outdated. Power Rangers modernized the characters and they are still the characters we know from the OG show. The rich bitch mean girl is still alive and thriving, but thats not Cordelia. In the reboot she doesnt seem to care about being popular, she is about the forest and all that jazz.

The geek thing is still VERY popular and thats who Willow should start out as, not this cool girl with a cool girlfriend.

Buffy is the central character, she helped all the characters around her develop and they were there to support her. In the new series she isnt really needed for that, she makes a big impact on Willows life and help Willow believe in herself. They took all of that away.

The Buffy we know is a former popular girl who has a fairly bright personality and can charm people. She's a loner working at a fast food joint when we meet her in the Boom series.

We have 3 active Slayers at one time, how is Buffy special? Angel isnt even her big first love.

Again....Boom was able to take Power Rangers and update them accordingly without losing the core of the characters from where they started. They took the big moments and tinkered here and there.

I rather swap how Buffy and Angel are done. Buffy was too nostalgic while Angel was charting its own course. It should be the opposite.

Angel is more defined by his past than Buffy is. So his book should lean on it while Buffy is dealing with new threats.
