I feel it is simply because of Zaslav not wanting to create scripted material for HBOMax/DiscoveryPlus or whatever it will be called in the end.
WB and Disney arguably have the 2 best libraries currently of content for a streaming platform. But you need to also create new exclusive content for the platforms also which Disney is doing, look at Netflix they started off as a film rental service, but it was shows like OITNB & Stranger Things that put them on map and made "Netflix and Chill" part of the lexicon.
No matter how much the "Go Woke, Go Broke" crowd likes to malign Igor he's the 1st head of Disney since Walt died to leave the company is a decent place. Even Eisner left the company in shambles despite the highs he took it too. Comcast almost bought the company thru a corporate takeover during the end of his tenure. DisneyQuest was a failure, California Adventure was a failure, Disneyland Paris was still slogging along. It was Igor who turned Paris and California Adventures around got Hong Kong and Beijing done. Then thru his acquirement of companies created a massive library for Disney Plus because under Eisner even Pixar was about to leave.
I still believe this trailer is the best trailer any stream service has ever had

It basically said we own all your childhoods and are creating new memories with are original content.
When someone pisses away an 80-to-90-million-dollar project because it's not "Cinematic enough" while banking on a connected film with a MIA star who is a major liability isn't someone, I would put faith into.
The Axe of Zaslav thirsts for blood.
Even if it screened poorly, 'm surprised they wouldn't just dump it on HBO Max with minimal promotion. It's still content and streaming services always need more. They don't have to tie anything else into it.
Can't stand them by their standards Phase One was a Woke failure.
Box Offices Iron Man 585.8, Incredible Hulk 264.8, Iron Man 2 623.9 Thor 450.3, 1st Avenger 370.6, & Avengers 1.5 billion. Even with Inflation Adjustments Thor, 1st Avenger and Incredible Hulk did worse than Thor Love and Thunder.
Also, the Asgardians were race bent and more ethnicities (Asian and French Guy) were added to the Howling Commandos and Peggy's 1st scene was punching out a White Alpha Chad type.
Smallville would have been slammed for "Ginger Erosion" for casting KK and also slammed for race swapping Pete. BSG gender swapped Starbuck and Boomer and added a female President. TOS would have been called a crew of "Diversity Hires" which god they have no clue how bad that sounds like try saying that in public at a business. Just start pointing at women and POCs and yell "Diversity Hire" and see the looks you'd get you fools. (By you I mean them not you)
I can't with them and hate they'll take this as a win.
Also, sad to lose a film with Keaton as Batman in it.
It was not scoob 2 it was a holiday special film for cartoon network and HBO max. Scoob 2 theatre film announced at CinemaCon is another film but won't be shocked if they killed it also.
With batgirl and the scooby cartoon network christmas special wb has scrapped $130m combined and batgirl was filmed and the scoob special was almost finished!
So, they wasted more money than saved!
Scoob special was $40m and almost done so they just flushed that $40m down the drain.
Dave even calls them out on it.

Wonder what else they will scrap.
People are now reporting batgirl test screening WERE positive so if true this is all about money.

Update on scoob. Dave down under says he heard scoob 2 is dead also. Rip. So, both are gone.
Sounds like it was a money thing according to Variety. Zaslav views it as something that's too small to make money and justify a theatrical release and too big and expensive to make sense being an HBO Max only release so the accountants determined that killing it and using it as tax write down is the safestest way to recoup some money without any risk.
I still say this is a good sign. Being willing to take the hit instead of releasing a bad movie is good. It shows that to the new guy at least quality matters. The DCU has had so many missteps they know they can't afford anymore clunkers if they ever hope to win back the public. They already know they have a PR nightmare coming up with the Flash movie, and they know they can't shelve that movie with the budget it has no matter how they probably wish they could right now. I think going forward WB is going to be a lot more smart about DCU projects
