    Default All Deaths and Resurrections

We all know comics are notorious for killing and bringing back characters. I feel this is mostly because diferent writers want different things from comics, and one (namely GEoff Johns) will say "I hate that they killed that character! He should be back!"
I was wondering if we could count them off right here.

I'd appreciate any elaboration folks can give to the ones I already have listed, like dates, etc.

Eobard Thawne: Died multple times but came back afterwards.

    Darkseid: Died but came back.

The Flash: Killed in the first Crisis, brought back in Final Crisis.

Superman: Definitely the most high-profile. Was never truly intended to stay dead, and did so just for a one-year storyline.

Kilowog: Killed in Emerald Twilight, I believe? Brought back sometime before GL: Rebirth.

Guy Gardner: Killed off panel no less, during Our World's at War

Sinestro: Killed in Green Lantern #50 by Hal Jordan. Resurrected with GL:Rebirth

Hal Jordan: Killed in The Final Night. First brought back as The Spectre, then fully resurrected in Green Lantern: Rebirth.

Green Arrow/Oliver Queen: Killed in Green Arrow #101 (blew up in a plane over Metropolis rather than lose an arm). Resurrected with Kevin Smith's GA relaunch.

Maxwell Lord: Killed in the buildup to Infinite Crisis, resurrected in Blackest Night.

Superboy: Killed in Infinite Crisis #6. Resurrected in Final Crisis: Legion of Three Worlds

Isis: Killed in 52, brought back sometime before Blackest Night.

Osiris: Killed in 52, resurrected in Blackest Night.

Flash/Bart Allen: Killed in Flash:FMA #13. Resurrected in Final Crisis: Legion of Three Worlds

Aquaman: Killed; resurrected in Blackest Night

Martian Manhunter: Killed during Final Crisis. REsurrected in Blackest Night

Batman: Like Superman, never really intended to stay dead. Killed in Final Crisis, returned in The Return of Bruce Wayne.

I know Aquaman died on a unceremoniously way, and was resurrected at the end of Blackest Night.

Conner Kent/Superboy: Killed in Infinite Crisis #6. Resurrected in Final Crisis Legion of Three Worlds.

MM was resurrected just one event later, at the end of Blackest Night.

Batman didn't die. He was shown to have been sent back in the time in the very same issue of his "death".

Vixen was killed in an explosion in Steve Orlando's "Justice League of America" run from a few years ago. Her body resurrected itself in the very next issue (she used the abilities of planarian worms to reform her body).

We should not count when the character came back in the same story arc (or the same/next issue) that list would likely get to long.

The list might get too long, but the thread title is about ALL deaths and resurrections, not about how long before a dead character was resurrected.

I no longer read comics but didn't I see where Roy Harper was killed and brought back recently?

At this point it's almost easier to count characters that died and *haven't* come back.

That said, in the deaths & returns, I find it interesting to contemplate how long characters *stayed* dead, especially for those deaths that were clearly intended to be "permanent" (i.e. NOT the death of Superman, which was part of an arc).

    Some examples:
    Barry Allen: 22 years, 9 months (11/85 - 8/08). Impressive.
Hal Jordan: 3 years from Final Night to becoming the Spectre. 8 years and 3 months from Final Night to becoming Green Lantern again.
    Jason Todd: 16 years and 5 months (12/88 - 5/05). Darned impressive.
    Oliver Queen: 4 years, 7 months (9/95 - 4/01).

    And, just because:
Cliff Steele: 8 years, 11 months.
Larry Trainor: 19 years, 2 months.
Niles Caulder: 20 years, 4 months.
Rita Farr: Either 35 years, 9 months or 41 years, 1 month, depending on whether your count the Byrne reboot (personally, I consider that a bit of a fever dream, but it probably counts).

Any other long death sentences undone?
