Default What is Chuck Dixon's finest work on Batman?

Chuck Dixon did a lot of work in the Batman universe over a lot of years, and his influence is undeniable, so here's your chance to decide: What is Chuck Dixon's finest work on Batman?

I have intentionally separated out the cross-overs so it isn't just included in his 'Tec run, otherwise it'd probably dominate the poll. I have an 'other' section, so please feel free to name things not on the list, such as his LOTDK work, mini series, or Graphic Novels.

Here's a list of everything he's worked on (according to Wiki):

After a lot of soul searching, I chose Nightwing rather than Robin. It was darned tough as he completely reinvigorated both characters.

Both excellent bodies of work, but I feel he ran out of solid ideas of Robin around the 50th issue and never really recovered. While his Nighwing work was a shorter run, it's all very good.

He also did an OGN with Graham Nolan called Joker: Devil's Advocate, which concerned the Joker facing the death penalty for a crime he didn't commit. It was basically an oversized issue of Detective, but not bad.

I'm not sure what his best work was (particularly since so many of the bat books were wrapped up in each other and we didn't get many independent arcs). I do remember a nice two-parter in 'Tec involving the Martian Manhunter (as John Jones) and a teleporter, but still very much told at "street" level. It had a lot of sci-fi, but Dixon kept it subtle so it still read as a crime story.

Joker: Devil's Advocate is in the poll, but wasn't listed on Wiki. I'll add it to the list.

I agree there were a lot of crossovers during that period, but these were still only once a year or so. He did a huge number of 1-3 issue stories over the years.

There's a zillion things to choose from, but I have to go with Knightfall/Quest/End. But almost solely for having the greatest (or at least most underrated) Joker story of all time.

The "Death of Batman" movie arc? That was superb. "It's not him!" "It's not bloody him!"

Robin/Batgirl Year One are two of my favorite stories, ever, so, that gets my vote.

Batgirl: Year One is up there as one my favorite Bat-related stories ever so it gets my vote.

I enjoyed his Robin ongoing a lot growing up and it still holds up really well but as I've re-read his run on Birds of Prey I've found a lot more to appreciate there.

I put Robin just because as awesome as Nightwing was, Nightwing didn't have a spinoff character like Stephanie Brown. Not for lack of candidates, though.

That whole build up and time frame and the entire Fall/Quest/End.

His Bane work,Birds of Prey,Robin work because they hold up even now,his Nightwing feels horribly dated.
