Batman specifically monitored and recruited Duke because his family's powers are sunlight based and solar manipulation is shown to be the most reliable weakness for Superman.
THE SIGNAL (Duke Thomas) is DC's secret shonen protagonist so I made him a fandom wiki

also, check out "The Signal Tape" a Duke Thomas fan project.

    currently following:
    • DC: Red Hood: The Hill
    • Marvel: TBD
    • Manga (Shonen/Seinen): One Piece, My Hero, Dandadan, Jujutsu Kaisen, Kaiju No. 8, Reincarnation of The Veteran Soldier, Oblivion Rouge, ORDEAL, The Breaker: Eternal Force

This makes me think of Batman intending for all his protege's to be used as counters for the entire Justice League.

    Could be an interesting Elseworld.

The vast majority of Superhumans in the DCU are neither superheroes of supervillains. Most of them live in relative obscurity, keeping to themselves and using their powers in the most inconspicuous ways possible in order to enrich themselves. Only a small percentage of super-humans engage in the “weird” task of putting on costumes and fighting each other in the street. The ones that do are the ones that are more innately inclined to theatrical and melodramatic behavior to begin with.

I don't like that the universe is packed with so many super-powered folks. It's probably evidence that they're living in a simulation. They would question their reality, but their world is programmed to check them every time that they realize none of this is real.
