When I was 17, I was in the reverse of that: my girlfriend was 35. We were together 5 or so years, and it ended amicably. I would not change a thing about that part of my life. The parents of my girlfriend just before this had a 12 year difference, and she was in her early 20 when they got together. They were happily married until their deaths. My inlaws got engaged when she was 16 and he was 25 (and married, but that's another story). They, too, stayed happily married until their deaths. My sister has a history of long-term relationships with much older guys. I've never seen any of this as negative. It can be, but so can people of similar ages.
