    Default Akuma vs Shao Khan

This fight has been getting heated on Youtube lately

I don't know enough about Akuma to make a solid judgement. From my view, I think this is a difficult fight to call. On paper, I think Shao Kahn wins because of his feats, age, and him being an ex-god, but being a successful conqueror doesn't make you the best fighter in the ring. Also he really comes off as arrogant and sometimes incompetent.

Akuma on the other hand is focused, powerful, and extremely deadly.

    Just a little heads up.

The way Death Battle handles feats differs greatly from the way feats are handled on this board. So a lot of results will differ just much in most cases.

And we do try to keep debates from other vs. boards/shows out of our discussions. So as long as we just stick to the match in question without bringing up those things we should be fine.

That said, the best Akuma feats I'm aware of is him blowing up an island and splitting Ayers Rock in half. Not sure how those stacks up against Shao Kahn.

    I feel like...

Well, let's be honest here, no one has good feats here.

I suppose what are we counting as canon for Akuma because... there's a lot one could draw on and not all of it is made equal.

I feel like GrandpaGen might have some good insight here.

Akuma saved Earth by blowing up an asteroid iirc.

Shao Kahn's hammer is kinda dope tho

That was SvC Chaos I think and definitely not canon.

Akuma does stuff like 'Sink islands with his best hit', 'destroy Ayer's Rock', and 'Kick submarine from deep in the ocean all of the way up to the surface', as I recall. These are quite bonkers feats, but I'm unsure how they stack up against Shao Khan...if Shao Khan does, indeed, have feats and not just gameplay.

To be fair, I'm pretty sure that he destroyed the island by triggering a volcanic eruption rather than through a direct application of force, but that still leaves him as being strong enough to set off a volcanic eruption with his best punch, which seems well outside of Shao Khan's range from what I remember.

The incompetance is mainly just from the NetherRealm version of Kahn.

Originally in the Midway continuity he was actually quite smart. For example it was his idea to revive Sindel in Earth Realm so he could legally invade. This was a back-up plan he'd kept in reserve for centuries in case Plan A (winning ten Mortal Kombat tournaments in a row) failed.

It's only since MK9 that Kahn has been portrayed as an incompetant brute.

In MK11 he was a bit more on the ball.

Him and Sindell as an evil power couple was highly entertaining.

That's a good idea. Not to go off-topic but I loved Midway's Mortal Kombat Story Telling. It was far more direct, effective, and less complicated. I'll never forget this issue

And razing forests with a single punch. Sadly, Shao Kahn's physical feats aren't up to snuff. Ironically, the non-canonical MK Legends: Battle of the Realms is his best stuff:

    Ichigo: What even *are* you?!

Kenpachi: Some say my mother was a train. Some say that I'm a rejected Godzilla monster too strong for the series canon. But everyone says: I'M THE KEEEEENPACHIIIIII!!!!

In MK9, he kills Kung Lao and empowers Sindel to kill almost all the other heroes and it takes the Elder Gods to finish him off.

In MK11, he's beaten twice, Sindel and Shang Tsung do most of the heavylifting (the only reason he didn't spend the rest of his life rotting in prison was Sindel saving him) and he doesn't see Shang Tsung's betrayal coming.

Then again, given how many times Kahn lost in the old timeline, I'm not sure how his new version is less competent than the last.

How much stock do we put into Shao Kahn's ability to soul steal?

    You can't make me!

    ...

As mentioned above, his best feats are in his various mainline Street Fighter endings. these include:

    - Sinking an island with a punch (SFA2)
    - Splitting Ayers Rock with Kongo Kokurestuzan (SF3: 2I)
    - Training on the ocean floor, kicking a ship in half with a kick (SF3:3S)
    - Destroying a section of a forest (SFIV)
    - Killed my namesake in SFV, something he was not able to do in the Alpha series Q_Q...and uh, no-selling Necalli, but Necalli sucks so whatever.

That's Capcom Fighting Evolution, which is super not-canon.

...but it is pretty rad, I'll grant you that.

    In SVC Chaos, uh...

In conclusion crossovers are cool but friggin' stupid.

This includes Tekken 7, no matter what Harada says.
