Underutilized characters who should have a bigger role in the DCU

What are some examples of powerful but underused characters who could be on the front lines during a Crisis level event. Somewhat underdeveloped characters who you would love to see a good creative team expand on.


The Infinity Man!

First off his name is THE INFINITY MAN which is one of the coolest monikers around. He has aspects of Shazam as the young gods known as the Forever People must unite to summon him. Plus he can go one on one with Darkseid.

Not one of Kirby's better designs, so I think a revamp would be needed.



The redesign in the 2014 series was ok. Though it lost a lot of the Kirby cosmic weirdness.

I'd like to see Captain Comet come back to earth and set up shop. Seeing the world through the eyes of DC’s original mutant would be interesting.


I know Jack Knight retired but nothing’s forever in comics. A good writer could ease him back into the life. And Opal City’s one of DC’s coolest locales w. tons of story potential still.

That's what I came in here to say.

Him, and Vixen, Black Lightning, Firestorm, Ralph Dibney, Mr. Terrific (who recently had a book and a big role in Strange Adventures, but still), the JSA as a whole, Power Girl, Stargirl.....

And nobody else is gonna agree with this, but Amazing Man. One of the best characters DC has that nobody remembers exists.

I feel like for the most part, unless you're directly tied to one of the League's big names you're probably not getting a ton of panel time right now.

As for Jack Knight, I believe DC has an agreement with Robinson where Jack can't be used without Robinson's approval. I don't know if Jack is some kind of creator owned character or if it's just a gentleman's agreement without a legal contract behind it. In any case, Jack's story was told and unless Robinson has more to tell (like Jack's trip to Japan that never saw print) I don't need him coming back.

But the Knight family and the Starman mantle are two things I most certainly want to see more of. Courtney is great, and a worthy heir to the Knight family tradition, but the Knights are basically the Kennedy family of DC and they really should be used more.
