That’s not too reassuring as I found What If to be pretty lackluster, save for a few episodes of course.

By "animation" I meant cartoons in general.

I know. But Marvel's extended media is big on making decisions I'm not a fan of. Even if it's not connected to those shows, they're very likely going to have many of the same trappings.

I'm assuming this will have different writers and not have the same plot issues as What If did. Especially since it won't have to tie-in to the MCU.

The source is credible. Very surprised that this is happening.

Edit: okay so the way it was reported by other people online was very deceptive as apparently it is a X-Men animated series, but only may be the 90s one.

I refuse to get my hopes up too much, given how many rumors like this have failed to pan out.

But even if it turns out to be true, I still have reservations. Marvel's track record with animation has been terrible since they cancelled Wolverine and the X-Men and Avengers EMH. Every show they've put out has been so bland and uninspiring. I would love to see them turn it around. But I just don't want to see their current track record undermine the X-Men.

The past decade of Marvel animated shows have been awful. Time and again they go for too youthful a demographic and in the end even the kids don’t like their shows.

The last animated things Marvel had worth watching were Avengers EMH and Wolverine and the X-Men both pre-Disney buy out.

    This is so conflicting.

I'm always going to consume X-Men content, but I honestly wanted something more fresh. Have a lot of love and respect for the creatives behind TAS, but I don't think we need a continuation.

Hopefully this avoids some of the pitfalls of the original run.

It's not the 90's cartoon, it'll be an unrelated cartoon.

Oh well, I didn't really like WATXM, so I hope it's better than that at least lol.

Also hope it avoids this shit of making universes inter connected leading to pointless crossovers, while I don't mind universe being shared, each setting needs to have its own world to be interesting, and X-Men definitely has more than enough nonsense to not need anyone else's nonsense.

It’s X-men content, so I’m there. Personally I’m hoping for a continuation of the X-men 90s series, but with some time having passed… perhaps even opening with the move to Krakoa from the school that we saw in House of X #1, adapting HoX — with flash forwards to the PoX timeline and Moira’s different lives — as the first five episode story arc to kick it off.

Agreed. I think Evo has aged the best by far

As someone who only read X-Men at the time, I absolutely hated it. I still think it is absolute garbage and unlike anything I was actually reading in the comics.

I have a great deal of respect for the creative team. We don't know what this is yet and we don't even know what will happen from this, but I am not in for TAS 2.0 or one or two more seasons added to the end. I will re-read my 90s comics or watch TAS if I want 90s nostalgia.
