I'm not sure that's 100% necessary for the story. It was a catalyst for his creation in the comics, but the prior knowledge of "a third Summers brother" isn't going to make or break his existence in the show.

Why do people assume Stryfe will show up? They’ve teased Bastion as the big bad, and he kind of became a Cable nemesis back in the 90s during and after OZT. Personally I find him a much more intriguing arch nemesis for Cable than his whiny clone with mommy and daddy issues.

I'm working with the speculation in this thread. I certainly want Cassandra Nova to be the big space baddie, not Stryfe. That makes little sense to me. Stryfe can come in when Scott and Jean go to the future to raise Baby Cable.

Rachel is tricky because she's Jean's actual daughter. They'll need to come up with Alternate Universes first.
