I imagine it's probably influenced by several factors. 1) the creators of the show were already barking up Disney's tree for years now for a revival, 2) as successful as WaTXM or Evolution were, they can't match the 90s shows fame and 3) it might tie into what type of image Disney wants reflected for the X-Men in the MCU.

very cool checking Twitter and seeing all the producers writers artists announcing they are working on this project. Very diverse cast and they look like age range of fans in 90s. Definitely a passion project it seems

why it aint happening? actually I think Psylocke is a strong candidate, for many reasons. And she would fit nicely next to Gambit, Rogue, Wolverine and co. Personality and look wise
