Another thing that felt mandated in the original show by the network censors was Wolverine's lack of faith. In the comics, he's a staunch atheist and so is Rogue. Rogue's religious beliefs or lack of them are never mentioned in the show but Wolverine's feelings on religion are used to contrast with Nightcrawler's. And by the end of Nightcrawler's debut episode, we see Wolverine praying in a church even though comic Wolverine was never convinced by Nightcrawler to believe in a god.

I'm also curious if Morph will have special insight on the Jean vs clone replacement since he's spent time as a Sinister brainwashed stooge and might sense something the other X-Men wouldn't notice.
    So true.

Yeah, except I don't think poor Morph can remember much due to the control chip, but he might sense something.

His powers revolve around him disgusting himself as others so that may also give him some added insight even if he can't remember much from his time with Sinister. It would be interesting if Mystique of all people could tell the difference because of her experience as pretending to be others.

Maybe. I hope we see more of Morph in many episodes.

So I don't know if because this show takes place on Disney+, if that's something that isn't an issue anymore or if they feel they still have to make family friendly plotlines that wouldn't involve children out of wedlock especially for two of the main characters.

The same way they couldn't portray the Brood accurately in the show, wouldn't kill off Proteus or have his powers actually kill his hosts, didn't include Destiny and make her Mystique's wife, etc.
I think the most un-family friendly aspect of the story isn’t baby out of wedlock, it would be a fake Jean pretending to be Scott’s wife. That’s rather…rapey

There was a quick flash of kind of a family crest that had Jean's and Scott's image on it IIRC. When Jean disengaged with his mind (and near collapsed, of course) she said something along the lines of "He's important to the future...OUR future..."

Oh, I am glad you remember that scene too.

Did Jean see herself there with Scott or just Scott? Were other people there too? The scene was incredibly quick and it has been so many years since I have seen it.

I recall flashes of both of their faces on the family crest - which I think was based on the traditional X medallion. I have the episode somewhere on DVD, will look for a screen grab.

Ok. Now, this has aroused my curiosity. Can anyone tell me when X Men 97 premieres?

Oh, that would be great. Thanks.

I wonder....could it be Maddie and Scott that Jean saw??

I hope not - Maddie replacing Jean and having a kid would make the entire cast look like irredeemable morons at best. None of you could tell the difference? Not the guy who can smell through Mystique's disguises? Not the guy with a permanent mental bond that works through power dampeners? Not the closest friend? No one?
    Dark does not mean deep.

I don't believe they'll go for the Maddie/Goblin Queen storyline exactly the way they did in the comics. She was a controversial character who must writers prefer to ignore and even Claremont said he wouldn't have created her had he known Jean would come back. Replacing Jean only worked in the comics because Jean was dead, so they're not going to make that a permanent part of this show. There's too many things skeevy about the scenario like no one realizing the real Jean is gone, Maddie essentially raping Scott, a convoluted backstory for Cable, etc. and on top of that, all of this has to be palatable for a kids show.

If the Goblin Queen really is a clone created by Sinister, and not Jean transformed into her, I wouldn't expect her to have much longevity or importance beyond being the season's plot twist.

The Jean/Scott/Maddie storyline would be hard to do. It's convoluted and there are shifts in storytone due to internal politics. Condensing it would make it lose something, since we all know how the story turns out.

I think they could make it an arc where it happens over time and isn't crammed into a single episode.
