Gambit and Jubilee still to this day look and act exactly like their 90s versions lol.

The original series is of course outdated, but I think of TAS as an ongoing comics series. It's being relaunched with a new team, but the characters are the same. The new team they've assembled is young and fresh and seem pretty awesome. And if you look at their pages, they're all fans... the most important!

That's possible, but I won't hold my breath. I've been burned too many times with Betsy's portrayals in media.

She mentioned that she has a brother, and there was a ship tease for her and Warren. But the new show can still ignore these things and pretend she was Kwannon all along.

How cool would it be if we had some variations on the Blue and Gold team going on different missions?

Blue could swap Beast for Kurt:
Cyclops, Gambit, Rogue, Psylocke, Nightcrawler, Wolverine and Jubilee.

And Gold could add another female:
Storm, Jean, Iceman, Colossus, Bishop, Archangel and Kitty (or Emma).

Beast, Forge and Dr. Reyes are the mansion’s support.
I love the idea of having the mansion support. I think some of the TAS'92 characters could def take a backseat a bit. I'd keep Xavier away for the time being so that's a perfect idea for Beast as sort of the headmaster. X-Men'97 should feel like a bigger world and having the school fully open (the way Morrison did it, not just like CC's New Mutants) would be the most important development IMO.

If you look at some of their pages, this has been their dream. Amelia Vidal has been posting concepts for years. And as another user pointed out, Matthew B. has been posting his X-Men drawings for a while and willing the series to life. He posted a post dedicated to his own posts about it lol!

As for Court, she usually voices young girl characters, so she might voice Kitty, but she also voiced Claire Redfield for 10 years, who is young, but older and tougher than Julibee.
Iona Morris and Alison Sealy-Smith were the second and third actresses to record Storm's lines for the first season. There was another actress, a white woman, who is still uncredited because her work never made it onto the actual show. It's in Eric Lewald's book Previously on X-Men on pages 90 and 91 under the heading "Seventh Crisis: The Tale of Three Storms".

I will admit I got some of the details wrong in what I was saying. Thanks for calling me out so I could go back and check.

I'm so happy with this announcement.

Regarding the iteration of the character, I think that the new versions that we are seeing could mean something. The presence of this new designs on the D+ platform, banners for conventions and some other media, like the HappyColout app makes me think that we could see this group with this designs on the new show. In that aspect, on the App, there is some group shots that feature Iceman consistently, so I think that in this show, we could have him (and as other have said, it could solve a problem with sexual diversity). Here are two examples of what I'm talking about:

Kinda seems creatively bankrupt, but who knows, I guess. Maybe they’ll have the presence of mind to have them change out of those god awful Jim Lee costumes.

She did voice an older Claire in the Degeneration movie at least (She would be in her 30's there), but yeah, rest of the time she voiced Claire, it was either in Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil Code Veronica, and their retellings retellings and what ifs lol.

Doubt she would have a problem with voicing older Claire in general though, it's just that Capcom sidelines Claire a lot, and I think something Union related prevents Court from voicing Claire again.

With how this is appealing to nostalgia, I doubt that's happening, at least not so soon.

I agree. They’re definitely going to modernize this show to appeal to current-day aesthetics and sensibilities. Also, the creators’ enthusiasm shines through.

I love that last shot of Psylocke, too.

Left this forum for a few years…. seems about the same haha
The agreement also provides Disney with the opportunity to reunite the X-MEN with the Marvel family under one roof and create richer, more complex worlds of inter-related characters and stories that audiences have shown they love. It only makes sense for Marvel to be supervised by one entity. There shouldn't be two Marvels.

Truthfully I find it disappointing to hear the fandom be the kind of fandom that is happy about stagnation. Maybe that’s the problem with comics right now. More people are here for nostalgia than quality. This is a step back. Just let the show be what it was. Hearing this doesn’t fill me with joy it fills me with annoyance that the X-men fandom hasn’t grown at all to demand new stories. That’s why it’s been so hard to get younger people into comics because the comic fandom is always stuck in the past happy that they announced a regression in content by bringing old content back just as a cover for whatever mediocre story they are going to put out

I really wish I would have heard more people against bringing the show back as a cheap move. Just create a new X-men show. X-men evolution is probably a show I liked more than the original X-men show, except for Gambit. Like just demand they stop using nostalgia for ratings and give us actual decent stuff

I see no to little value in the show itself. I am probably not in it’s intended audience. Whatever they decide on there.

I do see it as a opportunity for characters that are not reaping the benefits from marvel to perhaps get some more exposure and prominence. Jubilee and Gambit for example could certainly use it. It would be grand if this helped marvel to actually do something with them beyond background.

You're making way too many assumptions here. This isn't a complete remaster, it's a continuation of a series. At the bottom line, it is new content, regardless of it being an established property. I don't know how you can be a fan of comics and then be upset at the concept of a story continuing.

What regression are you talking about exactly? That its not Krakoa? ignoring the fact that hickman himself has stated he intended to "put all the toys back in the box" in terms of krakoa We have no idea what 97 will explore in terms of concepts, its entirely possible it might mirror what is happening in the comics in some areas. Do I expect them to totally change their entire set up with new characters and environment? No but if you think everything is going to be exactly the same in tone or ideas, I think you are not giving the creative team enough credit.

Also people need to stop dragging the term "nostaglia" through the mud. There is looking at something through rose-colored glasses and there is forming an emotional connection to certain work. I think people need to realize there is a difference and the latter is 90% of the reason why people are fans of the X-Men in the first place, that's not a reason to call a work bad or think people can't genuinely be excited for a series or work to continue.

    For fucking real.

So what if they're going back to something that they did before. It's not a lack of imagination. That's exactly how comics work. Some just can't see that in the animated medium. We've all be reading comics about the same characters for decades. Are we all stagnating? Are we all imaginatively "bankrupt"? No, because different creators take the material to different places. We haven't even seen anything yet!
