Default DC characters you think would be more interesting if they were gender swapped?

    To me...

To me most of the major characters who already have prominent female counter parts wouldn’t work because you would essentially be cannibalizing an existing characters thing.

To me... Captain Comet would be interesting as a female character, at least their is nothing in the characters premise, under arching themes or aesthetic that says that it has to be male.

    Wonder Woman!! (LOL)

Jokes aside, maybe a male Black Canary could be interesting.
Or even better, I think there must be more males Star Sapphires. Men also feel love, you know?

I’d love to see Misfit get away from the already overcrowded Batfamily where she’s wasting away and take up the mantle of Ted Kord’s version of Blue Beetle. She’s made for that kind of fun loving whacky adventures role.

She’d have a nice mix of tech and actual powers that aren’t Scarab dependent.

You read my mind. My thought first thought was Black Canary as well. I think in the Silver Age there was an alternate universe counterpart of hers who was male and was called Black Condor I think. He had bare legs.

I think most villains would become more interesting if you genderswap them, because it's still unusual to see women used for these archetypes and vice versa.

I considered the JSA but most of them have female counterparts.

But moving down the generations a bit, I would like to see how:

    Reine Harper

    Donald Troy

    Wendy West

    Bob Gordon

    Ronald Roth/Raven

would turn out to be like.

Nightwing - I feel if we flipped Dick's gender that would probably change the optics of how much DC/writers/fans sexualizes him and I'd be curious to see if they'll keep that same energy. it could be seen as sex/body positivity but it also very easily could be interpretated as exploitation; however, given DC's track record, they would 100% make him/her bisexual because of it tho.

Vixen - I feel like if Vixen was a man, she would've been seen as DC's answer to Black Panther and likely would've been pushed more. considering how much potential for growth and development Vixen has, that would probably mean a far more fleshed out niche for the character; and probably less fretting over their connection to The Red tbh.

THE SIGNAL (Duke Thomas) is DC's secret shonen protagonist so I made him a fandom wiki

also, check out "The Signal Tape" a Duke Thomas fan project.

    currently following:
    • DC: Red Hood: The Hill
    • Marvel: TBD
    • Manga (Shonen/Seinen): One Piece, My Hero, Dandadan, Jujutsu Kaisen, Kaiju No. 8, Reincarnation of The Veteran Soldier, Oblivion Rouge, ORDEAL, The Breaker: Eternal Force

There are already so many gender swapped of so many heroes that most of them wont make a difference if they are changed, but maybe with one of the Flashes it could work, the female members of the Flash family dont have much prominence and I think a female Barry or Wally could work and it will add another lady to the big seven of the JL

An immortal *physically* powerful top-tier sort of villain like Vandal Savage or Black Adam being reimagined as a woman would interest me. (Circe has a different sort of ageless power, being the 'stand back and throw zaps' sort of powerful female character we already have plenty of, I'm more interested in seeing a female mastermind/powerhouse who wades into a fight and starts beating heads, over one who cackles from a distance while throwing energy blasts like a Halloween witch on steroids.)

On the other hand, if re-imagined as a woman, they'd inevitably be redeemed and become antiheroes by the magic of the Batpeen or whatever.

I think if it was simply a current gender-swap like Starfire suddenly becoming male, it might make little difference. But if a talented writer was to take a male member of the Big Six (so not Diana) and write it out so the gender-swapped heroine was the start of their DC legacy it could be very interesting.

Picture an Elseworlds take on The Other History where Batwoman or Superwoman were the face of superheroes without male equals (at the time). Or just to make it even more impactful one of these two being the first hero of the DCU in the Golden Age.

What about a woman whose indominable will and courage make her the ideal candidate for GL of sector 2814 while the same qualities make people consider her civilian identity a "B*tch"

Or the obvious sexist jokes a woman called the "Flash" or the "fastest woman alive" would face- while trying to create a legend as a hero.

How does Diana take not being the sole major female founder of the Justice League. Not meaning his in a "two powerful women must be in competiton" sense. More that in the real world Diana has often been shown as being an A-class hero compared to many of her fellow female Leaguers who came off as B-class (or worse) . I'm talking in terms that seeing World Leaders consult with the Trinity or even the Big Seven felt natural but the same scene without the Big Guns but with Ollie, Dinah, the Hawks, Zatanna or Firestorm didn't feel as plausible. So in a reality where another of the Big Seven was female makes Wonder Woman less of the Female Icon Leaguer and more of her own person (in the sense each of the other is theor own icon and not the sole Male icon).

Hell, if it is only one hero gender-swapped imagine the original Teen Titans having a male character who is the sidekick to a female hero on team where all the others are sidekicks to people of the same gender.

Is it assumed Robin is more of an equal partner than a junior one if his mentor is BatWOMAN?

Even avoiding any actual impropriety what is the perception of female heroes with young male sideicks? Especially if Olivia Queen is as frisky as Oliver came off (again not implying Olivia and Roy are involved, just that her flirtatious nature might spark rumors)

Oh, it's definitely gonna change. The reason everyone is okay with Nightwing is because for a long time he's the one manservice that everyone consciously make, as in, it's not just standard procedure athletic body and shirtlessness, but if it's flipped then it's just another one for the long line of female fanservice, and there wouldn't be anything new about it.

Noa male Starfire, as is, can still work, because she's so built with fanservice, being the innocent foreigner who kisses to understand language, wearing skimpy battle armor, has no qualms with nudity or polyamory, powered up by the sun, therefore, requiring to wear minimal clothing, you don't get that with Superman, being a swimsuit model as a job. Do we have male DC characters that have all those things? Dick is the closest but even his stint as a male model and stripper was temporary. Yeah, I want male Kori.

I'll take one with a better story than the existing Earth-11 gender swap for Diana that we just saw in Wonder Woman

I just don't find those things interesting in Kory as she is. I'd probably find them even less interesting in a male Starfire. YMMV.

I’ve thought that a female swapped Cavalier could be interesting, especially if given a chance to be an opponent in a join Catwoman, Batman story dealing with their quiet love of swashbucklers.
Like action, adventure, rogues, and outlaws? Like anti-heroes, femme fatales, mysteries and thrillers?

I wrote a book with them. Outlaw’s Shadow: A Sherwood Noir. Robin Hood’s evil counterpart, Guy of Gisbourne, is the main character. Feel free to give it a look: https://read.amazon.com/kp/embed?asi...E2PKBNJFH76GQP

    We could have this now.

Let Hawkman and Hawkgirl belong to the JSA....and Hawkwoman for the JLA.

Give her armor and weapons from Nth metal.

Nth metal is supposed to have many amazing powers...use them!

    Great ideas...but we can't get a distaff Batman & Robin team (Bat-Woman and Bat-Girl??).

I would like to see a heroine with a female sidekick...or a heroine with a male sidekick (Wondar Woman and Wonder Boy??).
