    Yay.
Yeah, he went with the stupid one.

This is a Tom King mystery, so I assume it's going to be either Fire or Ice because things are always as they seem on first blush with his mysteries. Either it's Fire and he's really just a hack or it's Ice framing her because that's one level of abstraction and Strange Adventures convinced me he really doesn't care what Earth he scorches.

It did kind of bug me how little regard Tora had for Guy. He's one of her two most significant relationships, but here he's just the ex for one page, but Bea gets talked about throughout. That's deserved for Fire, but the lack of any emotion or thought about Guy felt hollow. He's important to her, one way or the other.

    Outstanding art, though.

I assume that the downplay of guy is for King to push her with Chris Chance here.

Almost certainly, and he's going to feature in the next issue, but it's strange how little he seems to factor into Ice's recollection. I doubt it's too direct attention away from him because poison is really, really REALLY not Guy's thing. It's too subtle.

You can have him be the old flame, and maybe she's angry or torn over them being exes. Apathy, however, feels disingenuous at best for Tora.

But King has always been legendarily poor at respecting characterization.

Liking everything about the series so far! Hooked on the mystery.
