McFarlane and Liefeld weren't that dissimilar.

Even Spawn's original outfit had pouches and it wasn't uncommon for him to use big gunbs. Also one of Spawn's earliest major enemies was basically mafia Cable except bigger and balder, and more cyborg-er (another of Spawn's earliest foes was a gorilla... except it was a cyborg!)

Never quite understood why Cable carried ammo pouches and wore bandoliers and so on when his guns were usually energy weapons. Are those just spare battery pouches for a really energy-inefficient weapon?

Really, if any of the Sinister Six were going to try to overcompensate with giant sized "bad ass" guns, it make sense that it's Electro.
