Well I've been reading comics since the Lee/Kirby days and I didn't get it. I just know Wolverine is always dying and coming back. Is that the "joke"? I really stopped paying attention to Wolverine years ago. He always annoyed me

The joke is it is a take off on the Batman slaps Robin panel that has become a comic book meme. Did you see the pic I posted?

There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!

Oh well, I guess that's funny. I really didn't pay attention to the Wolverine cover that closely. In fact I don't really look at any Wolverine covers and just skim past them.

If we had twice as m any voters, odds are good nearly every cover would have had at least one vote. I thought we had a good selection of covers this time around.

    Congratulations, Stony!

Thank you to Zelena and Chad H for the lovely votes!

LOVE Sam & Max. It's incredulous how much the TPB goes for. I had several copies, but kept foolishly loaning them out and never getting them back. :P I did get one of the fancy-schmancy hardcovers that came out, but didn't open it and it's in storage. Ah well...

Congratulations to Stony for a Marvelous cover which clawed its way to becoming a Definite Craze on da interwebs. The added appropriateness of Wolverine going through a sales boosting "death" at the time is a big bonus.

And now, what the captain has learned in this peak of the week. Comedy and humor are very subjective and although the offerings this week were fairly commonly accepted as funny, we still have differing opinions especially when we are included in the punchline, but some of us (especially the captain) need to lighten the f^$* up.

Thanks go to Kirby101 for his educational and appreciated vote. I've learned about a new concept (to me, anyway) and I'm sure some of you still appreciate the longevity of the frog cover.

And here is the original panel that launched a thousand memes

    Yes!

That's one of the reasons I loved those Imaginary Stories--and Marvel's What If?s--the often tragic endings. Very emotional.

It's a very versatile meme. There even is an update for pandemic.

Oh I know that feeling all too well just recently! In one month Marvel gave us not one, but two AU stories that had tragic twists for the FF. Fantastic Four: Life Story was only at issue #3 when it happened, while Spider-Man: Spider's Shadow concluded in a similar manner even though the FF were just supporting characters.

hate to break it to you but all super-hero stories are imaginary stories. We just like to pretend some of them are real and some aren't.
