Of course it is, but Batman essentially prints money, so why the hell would they not include him? Lol.

That's fans in general, DBFZ sold because it's a Dragon Ball game, brand recognition is a great money maker.

If you wanna make a moveset without him you could, but realistically he's going to be in a game like this

Well, yeah. I just didn’t want to say that and have somebody call me out for trying to say fans will blindly buy anything because that’s not what I’m saying.

Other people did a wide variety of interesting characters, but for me....

I want to go with characters who would fight differently. But that said... people can and have made fighting games with nothing but ordinary Human fighters. So you could make a game with a roster of 24+6+6+6 characters... who were all Kryptonians(or some sort of demi/fake Kryptonian). There's enough Kryptonians that you could make them all unique to play as if you really wanted to. How? well.. some DO have unique twists to their powers. Also several like to use super-tech weapons. And well... don't use the same fighting style.

    Not a complete list:

    Kal-El: the classic Superman.
Dru-Zod: uses a meaner fighting style than Kal-El
    Ursa
Non: big guy, relatively slow, etc...
    Powergirl:
Bizarro: would have the flame breath/ice-vision gimmick some Bizarros have. Also a seemingly very clumsy fighting style.
Car-Vex: this would be a character using a heavy empasis on hitting things repeatedly.
    Faora Hu-Ul
    Lesla-Lar: has a teleporter
Karsta Wor-Ul: has a style that goes more for big hits than lots of hits.
Kara Zor-El(Red Lantern): this would be largely cosmetic, but make her fighting style a bit different.
    Divine:
    Bizarro Girl; female Bizarro.
Cir-El; Human infused with carefully selected bits of Kryptonian DNA, her powers are an intentionally engineered variant of standard K powers so her energy projection works differently
Linda Danvers; the Matrix Supergirl, yeah, not the standard Kryptonian powers, especially after she sprouted flame wings.
Lucy Lane: Human infused with Kryptonian dna... along with a few other races. So her powers look different than a true Kryptonian.
    Az-Rel
Nadira; they both used a fighting style that heavily emphasized big hit rush attacks.
    Eradicator: robotic doppleganger
Cyborg Superman: yeah cybernetic weapons along with a variant of standard powers.
Kon-El: he's not a full Kryptonian so slightly different powers.
Jon Kent: Son of Kal-El... not sure
Thara Ak-Var: Kryptonian military person bonded to the Flamebird entity
Lor-Zod: the Kryptonian Nightwing. Has certain powers related to that
Brainiac's Daughter: part Coluan, apparently used tech to enhance her powers.
Xa-Du: due to the excessive time in the Phantom zone he's a bit ghostly and has a limited phasing ability.
    Jax-Ur:
    Quex-Ul:
Super-Girl: (the fake Kryptonian Jimmy wished into existence)

It's worth pointing out though, even in the few fighters where characters don't have super-powers (Or don't have as many super-powers, like how Tekken has some super-powered characters), we have a ridiculously high amount of martial arts that can be based around making those movesets, something the poorly defined Kryptonian martial arts lack lol.

And honestly, even if we were gonna get a fighter that uses only Supes' characters, only Kryptonian and Kryptonian-like characters is pushing it, like, not having someone like Lex, or maybe even Parasite in the game? Come on.

Also it's really pushing it to include that prototype Supergirl lol.

The game could have a high amount of Kryptonians, but you also need other characters from Supes' world to be more colorful, otherwise the cast looks bland.

Yeah, I know. This is just a thought experiment really. DC would never do a game where half the roster are minor characters. a real game probably would leave out half of them or make them echo fighters to make room for non-Kryptonian characters associated with Superman.

Also for making combat styles varied you don't need to use actual martial arts. Sure, some games do make an effort to define real martial arts as inspiration. But you don't need to. It's like how in Superman 2 Zod and Non don't fight the same way.

Yeah, even then, unless it's something like Injustice, the other characters would be just costumes and not much else.

You don't need it, but it's certainly easier to use them as reference, at least for how the moves are gonna look, Tekken is an example of that being done, even if the way the characters play may not represent how the martial art actually works.
