Default Modern Origins: What's a plausible reason for the formation of Justice League?

The two most important elements of a modern Justice League origin seem to be: (1) a threat big enough to unite the heroes; and (2) a reason for why the Justice League operates independently of the government.

If DC were to write a modern origin for the Justice League (in a setting as realistic as the MCU), how would they come together, if the government didn't recruit them to be a team? And why wouldn't they work alongside the government or the military when facing a particularly dangerous threat?

In this scenario, there were no superheroes operating or working together before the Justice League founders.

I feel like all of their origins are fine? Maybe need some fine tuninv but fine nonetheless.

Even JL:TAS origin of them forming is good and easily translated to live action.

    A giant alien invasion.

Alien invasion: either Starro or the White Martian (to tie in J'onn J'onnzz) should be good enough.

Darkseid shouldn't be anybody's starter villain.

I thought WW fans disliked it for how it introduced WW as an amateur.

Superman disarming the world's nuclear programs doesn't hold up when you find out that Cadmus has operated since S:TAS. Seems like too much government trust in Superman for the later storyline.

Wasn't Cadmus formed only because of the Justice Lords? Think that even created a plot hole with Doomsday since he showed up not only after the Lords...

Not just the Justice Lords. It was also Superman being brainwashed to attack earth at the end of Superman: TAS. This is what caused Emil Hamilton to betray Superman. The Justice Lords appearing years later only added to an existing fire.

They also said that Cadmus was born out of them trying to connect every 'secret govt ops' that appeared in almost every DCAU show. Cadmus simply assimilated all of them into one.

Still one of my favorite overarching storylines in the DCAU.

I'd do a story with international organized crime.

The various members who team up to be the JL would each by working on solving some sort of crimes. But while trying to investigate... they run into each other... repeatedly, and come to the realization that it's not random unconnected crimes. It's a conspiracy created by criminals cooperating.

Enter... the Legion of DOOOM!!! MWAHAHAHAHA11111

haha. but yeah...... Big-bad? who needs a world ending threat when you have loads of smaller threats you can stack into a pile?

While there are already many working origins (and aliens being the de facto easiest to manage)...
