If they watch the whole movie, I'm sure they'll find it's a lot more complicated than it looks, although Miguel being the more ruthless and cynical of the Spider-Men, even after he realized the injustices that he was helping to perpetuate by working for Alchemax in 2099, is a good way to compare and contrast him with Peter and (especially) Miles.

Yeah, this was a nice surprise, considering that PAD's previous Spider-Man 2099 series ended on a rather bitter note with Miguel being separated from Tempest and little Gabriel.

I just realized that the ending to Spider-Man 2099 vol.2 was essentially the 2099 equivalent of OMD/BND. There was a forced separation of lovers via rather complicated and absurd means, a father was seemingly forever denied the right to be with his unborn child and there was a Brand New Year to top everything off.
