He will be missed. One of the true legends of the industry.
I can only hope his remaining few days are as painless as possible.
This morning I was reading what his colleagues wrote and remembered about him. I started crying and remembering how important he was to me too. My gateway to comics as a child, my absolute adoration for Wonder Woman, my initiation in Greek mythology and my desire to be a comic artist that led me to study and graduate as a visual arts teacher.
I always mention that my two biggest influences in not becoming a frustrated and resentful gay man, who unconsciously formed me to be a more open, compassionate and empathetic person were Madonna and His Wonder Woman.
Ugh.
What an amazing thing for him to reach out and tell us.
Very sad. His Wonder Woman was the first that I bought when the issues that came out. Loved his art and writing.
I feel that there is hardly any doubt that George Perez is the most influential, most esteemed, most lovingly remembered WW writer after Marston.
Isn't it kind of sad that neither Marvel nor DC have said anything about this whole situation? What a bunch of insensible people
I would say that at this point it's not important that George hears how important he was to the companies, but rather from the fans. He has always seemed to be such a personable person, so to me in how he seems, hearing from the fans...from the people who he inspired, awed, melted with his absolutely incredible work is most important.
Only 22 days into the new year and I already hate it. I'm gonna cry now, read some of his Wonder Woman books. His origin for Diana and the Amazons is to this day at the top of my list for origin stories.
Zaldrīzes Buzdari Iksos Daor
As tragic as this is, at least we get to send him off. I don't think I would be able to face a similar situation with the kind of dignity, grace, compassion and even laughter that he is facing it with. He is truly the GOAT.
