Default Saddest/Most Poignant Anime /Manga moments?

In one volume of Fairy tail the little blue cat and a friend face what appears to be certain doom.

Sensing the end the cat says :
"I liked being your friend. Let's be friends in the next life!"
    Yes! Lets!

Also - Pluto by Naoki Urasawa. A grieving female android learns to cry like a human...

    and YOURS?

I'm looking forward to what choices people have for runner-up to Grave of the Fireflies.
    Sincerely,

Thanks. When Marnie was there DESTROYS me! The start and ending of the film always leaves me a crying, sobbing mess. I was a very shy, quiet kid in the 80's. I had to live with my eldest sister after my mother died and my dad traveled around the state looking for work. Making friends and people with stable families were so alien to me.

Anyone else deeply affected by Marnie?

I was shocked by the twin’s death in “Touch” (“Théo ou la batte de la victoire” in French). So sudden. So unexpected. Suddenly it was quite a different anime… I liked him more than his brother who was apparently the one who mattered… Too bad.

Also in the manga “Tokyo Babylon”, I was touched by Hokuto Sumeragi’s death. Also a twin!

Yes. I watched Marnie up to the end. It really left an impact on my heart.

The majority won't agree, but this always felt sad...

Wolfwood's last moments as he bleeds out in Trigun always struck me pretty hard.

Hopefully this counts, but another fave would be the death of Komugi & Meruem (HunterXHunter):
