Just like the title question suggestions, I'm curious as to which characters are favored by those of us who post here and why we like them. Fans of the Spider-Man comics are blessed, as the character has one of the strongest cast of characters in comics (if not all literature); there are great villains and interesting upstanding civilians and all manner of morally grey character in between. Who shines brightest in your eyes?
The only rules, I guess, is that you don't pick Peter Parker - it's too easy; also, the choices have to be legit parts of the Spider-mythos. Like, villains who only appear once and fight Spidey are fine, but guest stars don't count.
Mine goes something like this:
1) Ben Reilly - honestly, he's my preferred Spider-Man, as he's an even greater underdog than Peter; I found his predicament endlessly fascinating (and still do)
2) Kaine - similar feelings for Kaine, though as I mentioned on another thread, I loved him as FrankenSpider
3) the Slingers - can I count them all as one? is that cheating?
4) Morbius, the Living Vampire - the dude has an awesome shtick; I wish someone could figure out how to make it work more efficiently - also, his 90s series would've been excellent were it not bogged down by crossovers and art changes
5) Phil Urich - loved his original series; like that he hasn't been forgotten and hope he stays alive to play a continued role in the world of Goblins
6) SHOC - I dunno about this one; I just like SHOC irrationally
7) Stegron, the Dinosaur Man - best name in comic books
8) Venom - dark Spidey = 'nuff said
9) Norman Osborn - he's a relevant villain for the stories of today, but he also has importance to continuity on his side what with his girlfriend / brother / baby killing (and Ellis' characterization really upped things)...
10) the Prowler! - I wish Hobie and Peter teamed-up way more often
Special recognition for a bunch of other characters that didn't quite fit in, like Swarm and Mayday Parker and Mad Jack and the Jackal and...
I just remember how much I liked Crazy Eight from the Spider-Girl series!
Remember him? And his parental reveal?! Fun times.
-Pav, who wishes Shriek and Jonas Harrow got more screen time too...
