Default Who makes your Top 10 Spider-Characters list?

Just like the title question suggestions, I'm curious as to which characters are favored by those of us who post here and why we like them. Fans of the Spider-Man comics are blessed, as the character has one of the strongest cast of characters in comics (if not all literature); there are great villains and interesting upstanding civilians and all manner of morally grey character in between. Who shines brightest in your eyes?

The only rules, I guess, is that you don't pick Peter Parker - it's too easy; also, the choices have to be legit parts of the Spider-mythos. Like, villains who only appear once and fight Spidey are fine, but guest stars don't count.

    Mine goes something like this:

    1) Ben Reilly - honestly, he's my preferred Spider-Man, as he's an even greater underdog than Peter; I found his predicament endlessly fascinating (and still do)
    2) Kaine - similar feelings for Kaine, though as I mentioned on another thread, I loved him as FrankenSpider
    3) the Slingers - can I count them all as one? is that cheating?
    4) Morbius, the Living Vampire - the dude has an awesome shtick; I wish someone could figure out how to make it work more efficiently - also, his 90s series would've been excellent were it not bogged down by crossovers and art changes
    5) Phil Urich - loved his original series; like that he hasn't been forgotten and hope he stays alive to play a continued role in the world of Goblins
    6) SHOC - I dunno about this one; I just like SHOC irrationally
    7) Stegron, the Dinosaur Man - best name in comic books
    8) Venom - dark Spidey = 'nuff said
    9) Norman Osborn - he's a relevant villain for the stories of today, but he also has importance to continuity on his side what with his girlfriend / brother / baby killing (and Ellis' characterization really upped things)...
    10) the Prowler! - I wish Hobie and Peter teamed-up way more often

Special recognition for a bunch of other characters that didn't quite fit in, like Swarm and Mayday Parker and Mad Jack and the Jackal and...

I just remember how much I liked Crazy Eight from the Spider-Girl series!

Remember him? And his parental reveal?! Fun times.

-Pav, who wishes Shriek and Jonas Harrow got more screen time too...
You were Spider-Man then. You and Peter had agreed on it. But he came back right when you started feeling comfortable.
You know what it means when he comes back
    .

"You're not the better one, Peter. You're just older."

    Interesting choices. I'll go with...

    2) J Jonah Jameson- Best supporting character in comics.
    3) Frank Castle/ The Punisher- Most successful spinoff. But his stories with Spidey are pretty good. There's an interesting contrast between the two.
    4) Curt Connors/ The Lizard- I love the dynamic of a guy who is both an ally and an enemy, something we see with the Goblins.
    5) Wilson Fisk/ The Kingpin- The great comic book crime boss.
    6) Norman Osborn/ The Green Goblin- The archenemy.
    7) Doctor Octopus- One of the great mad scientists.
    8) Mary Jane Watson
    9) Alien Costume/ Venom
    10) Flash Thompson- I made a top 15 list a few years back, and Flash just made the cut. But the last years have featured some major improvements with excellent arcs depicting his recovery from war injuries to becoming a superhero.
    11) Aunt May

Honorable Mentions) Harry Osborn, Kraven the Hunter, Sandman, Roderick Kingsley/ Hobgoblin
    Sincerely,
    Thomas Mets

-JJJ (the greatest supporting character in comics)
    -MJ
-May (but she still should have stayed dead)
-Harry (but he still should have stayed dead)
    -Betty
    -Flash
    -Prowler
    -Doctor Octopus
    -Shocker
-Looter (yes, I have an irrational love of the Looter)
-Alternate Spider-Men (because honestly the appeal of Ben, Miguel, Kaine, Miles, the Slingers, ect is the same but I still love seeing them interact with Peter)

    1. Kaine Parker. He's developed a lot thanks to Yost's awesome writing. I thought he was awesome in both the Scarlet Spider series and New Warriors.
    2. Mary Jane Watson/Parker. My favorite love interest for Peter. I became a fan of hers during JMS's run. She was a character with a personality of her own who like Peter wasn't perfect and is one of the reasons why my favorite Spider-Man comic is Doomed Affairs.
    3. Venom (Eddie Brock.) My favorite Spider-Man villain. I'm kind of a sucker for evil doppelgangers and Eddie was just awesome as Venom.
    4. Mysterio (Quentin Beck) I always loved Mysterio as a villain as he could use the shape shifting in a variety of ways.
    5. Spider-Girl (Mayday Parker) I really dig Next gen heroes.
6.Black Cat. You can thank the Fox series for this one.
7.Hobgoblin I can't really say which one but I've always preferred the Hobgoblins too the others.
    8.Miguel O'Hara.
    9.Kraven.
    10.Classic Jameson.

    Here's my list...

    1) Lizard - Two characters in one, and both characters are good.
    2) Sandman - Because somehow they pulled off a character made of sand. And I love that.
    3) Kingpin - Classic crime boss, almost always well done.
    4) Vulture (Adrian Toomes) - Represents the old vs young dynamic.
    5) Robbie Robertson - I relate to him more than to JJJ.
    6) Spider-Girl (Mayday) - Shows how Peter passes on the torch. Almost like Peter's version of Robin.
    7) Captain Stacy - Spider-Man's own version of Commissioner Gordon.
    8) Punisher - Spider-Man's version of Judge Dredd/Ronin.
    9) Mysterio (Quinten Beck) - He's such a good character that there have been tons of copies.
    10) Uncle Ben - Peter's dad. Such a great dad that Peter mourns him to this day.

    1. Eddie Brck / Venom
    2. Mary Jane Watson - in my mind OMD and OMIT never happened.
    3. Norman Osborn / Green Goblin
    4. Otto Octavius / Doctor Octopus
    5. J. Jonah Jameson
    6. Aunt May (tough old bird just won't die!)
    7. Felicia Hardy / Black Cat (when she was good and knew who Peter was)
    8. Uncle Ben (because of the whole with great power speech)
    9. Wilson Fisk / Kingpin (yeah, DD stole him, but he was a Spidey villain first!)
    10. Ben Riley (probably the only good thing to come out of the whole Clone Saga mess)

    No particular order:

    JJJ
    Norman Osborn/Green Goblin
    Robbie Robertson
    Curt Connors/Lizard
    Frank Castle/Punisher
    Mary Jane
    Felicia Hardy/Black Cat
Uncle Ben/Aunt May (they are a combo)
    Doc Oc
    Kraven

I had a hard time with this. I would easily be able to swap some out and have Gwen, Harry, Captain Stacy and maybe even the Jackal in there.
