If Braddock family is the main focus than damn put Braddock family on the cover and sell it as Braddock family book with Betsy as main character.
Reply again. He is a wallpaper in it or written only on pages to be called an idiot or imbicile. Howard can`t write him and don`t want to. She has no plans for him and is just trolling fans. 25 issues of Excalibur already showed it.

It is not a focus problem. It is just a very bad writing.

Agreed. I genuinely feel bad seeing Gambit fans disappointed month after month. My hope is that he'll play a larger role in this new title and maybe end up running a realm and taking over the crooked market.

Do you all not do that? Why would you pay money for something you don't want to read?

Even if he plays a larger role the damage is done. The problem for Gambit fans is that Excalibur has been a book that just sucks the life out of Gambit. There is no joy there. We have had books before where he has been wildly OOC or whatever else bad writing one can conjure up but this book just doesn’t inspire much feelings either way. Many have dropped it because there are just so many times one can be disappointed. I think I was one who kept up with it the longest but it just leaves me cold now.

He really needed a new creative team or just limbo. Something to break the cycle.

A chance to really shake up the team and maybe include people that have real ties. Sorry, but Bei was such an out of the place addition. Rachel makes sense for her ties to Betsy, Brian and Meggan. Get rid of Rictor and Shatterstar (keep them together, but save them from this Druid/Mojo star storyline). Get rid of Tini and find someone that is interested in this type of fantasy and adventure stuff, but that can actually write, execute and juggle a cast. Tini cannot.

This is like when New Mutants became X-force, but that felt new and exciting. This is Excalibur becoming Excalibur.

i feel like this is what was being set up, when Gambit and Jim or whoever had their confrontation in the Crooked Market. Rich @sshole is Gambit's preferred target for theft and shenanigans. now if Gambit's going to stand on a street corner wearing a dress and selling black market Pop-Tarts, count me out.

i really hope issues 1-26 complete the "who is Betsy Braddock" storyline. you would think two and a half years would be enough. please change focus to a team book. please make the characters like-able. they are just all SO unpleasant and i don't root for them at all. the story is boring to me because i don't care what happens to these uncharismatic/boring/stupid people. don't tell me how awesome and good the characters are. have them actually doing something awesome and good. going to a different realm every issue is just them being unpleasant in a different location. scenery is not a story.

    Absolutely.
That is a normal thing, though, with regards to other consumer/entertainment products.

I've always done that and it doesn't take me 20-plus issues to do so...but then again, I don't read a team book for just one character, even if that character happens to be my FAVOURITEST in ALL the WORLD!!!

This isn't how team books work IF, Howard wanted to explore the effects of Bets being displaced from her body she's failed at that too, and this series was the wrong place for that anyways. That story should have been answered BEFORE the Excalibur series. Because its like she ditched Kwannon's body and identity only to "steal" another without us ever really getting a solid reason as to why she wants to be Capt. Britain even tho the story has addressed this.

Moreover, Rogue, Jubilee, Gambit, and even Rictor have all been terribly underutilized in this title, and that's all without mentioning the mismanagement of Bets. The best character she ever used was Apocalypse and he's no one in the title.

This 1000%. I think a lot of leftover important character arcs and developments for a variety of characters were left in the "old house" once Hickman took over the line. The period between the two would have been a great opportunity to explore "Who is Betsy?' when she's in a body similar to the one she was born with. With the powerset she was born with, but skills she had gained over the years in a body that she's no longer in. What does this really mean to her? If these were explored prior to the start (or in the beginning of) of Excalibur I don't think we'd still be yearning for answers and would probably have had a better idea of her reasons for reclaiming the title of CB.

Well for some of us, that is literally the only way we get to read our favorite character - in a team book. So should we just sit on our hands until another solo comes along? We're not asking for Gambit to be the center of attention, just to be written with a shred of respect for the character especially since his popularity is being used to market this book.

And I for one have dropped Excalibur at least twice after issue #6. I gave it another single issue chance post X of Swords and still hated it and haven't been back since.

I would gladly see Leah Williams take a shot at this title. She wrote a better Gambit in two panels than Tini has in 25 issues. She also wrote a much better Jubilee and balanced her team in X-Factor far better.
